Dec. 6th, 2003 06:24 pm"And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad,
These dreams of which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had"
I have no idea why those lyrics send a shiver down my spine, but they do. It's from an absolutely gorgeous song called "Mad World" which is a cover of a Tears For Fears song. I don't know who's singing it, although I do know that it's on the Donny Darko soundtrack. (Which is a film I really need to see.) It's pretty. Yay Radio 1 for drawing my attention to it.
Today, I think, has been a day of strangeness. I had work today, as you do, so planned to wake up at 10.00. At 9.30, someone knocked on the door.
This was strange in itself. No one ever knocks on our door, as a rule- we have a bell for a reason. I rolled over and hoped someone else would answer it. They knocked again, so by this point I was curious. Mum was muttering "Leave it..." but I decided to toddle down anyway, complete with ratty dressing gown, hair held back by my hand, spot gel stuff on face and generall looking tatty. I had also been awake for approximately a minute. So, I open the door to a slightly nervous looking bloke:
"Hello, is Julie in?"
"Who are you?"
"I'm Fran, I work with her..."
"I'll go and get her. Wait there-"
"Have I woken you up?"
"Yes. You have."
"Oh, is Julie still asleep?"
"Yeah, SHE is."
"Ah. I'll call back later?"
He then ran off, which was fair enough as I was quite rude but hadn't had enough sleep. I then decided it was worth getting up and getting a shower, and then toddled off to work, which was long and mostly boring, but when isn't it?
I came home, and the second strange event of the day: I'm going to buy the Daily Mail tomorrow. I am. I'm not going to read it, mind- I'm just going to have th CD thingie that goes with it. *hangs head in shame*
Third strange event of the day: Mum cleaned the carpet. Okay, this isn't the actual event, but it left a very wet and sodden carpet, which is on my route from living room to kitchen. I was making a cup of tea, and suddenly I heard music. Very Good Music, in fact. And then I heard a line:
"Give him the sword of kings!"
And then I knew. So I moved quite quickly out of the kicthen, and then suddenly I was lying on the carpet, swearing and blaspheming in front my mother with the most horrendous pain in my leg.
Yes. I fell over spectacularly. Megan laughed. I swore at her. Mum looked disapproving, so I modified it to "Shut up or I will injure you." I was still on the floor at this point, so it was something of an empty threat.
Gah. Missed the trailer and have immensely sore bruise over all of leg. Ugh.
Now choices, choices: Should I do my history homework or post to
deletrius?
What do you think? *goes Sue-hunting*
