Am more awake now, and posting for the sheer reason I'm bored. Went to the library today, with ankle strapped up. Theres something about summer weather that makes me want to go to the library, you know?
The walk there is lovely. I have to go through the middle of the park in the blazing sunshine, and then it's up a REALLY steep hill that runs along the side of the graveyard and the Parish Church. It might sound really morbid, but it's lovely, especially in summer, because the church and the yard are really old, dating back to Viking times.
(Ormskirk- Orm's Kirk, so basically some Viking dude called Orm built a kirk, or a church. Legend has it that he had two daughters, one who wanted a steeple and one who wanted a tower. He loved them both equally, so built both steeple and tower, hence making Ormskirk one of three towns in all of Britian with that particular oddity. Ormskirk is also famous for a marketplace dated back to the 1300's, gingerbread, one serial killer, one England footballer, John Culshaw, and in about three weeks, the winners of Stars in Their Eyes as the Beatles. I know this because the contestants are in my year at school. They WILL win. Now how many of you didn't know that? And so ends today's history lesson, next week, Southport! If I can find anything interesting, that is)
Where was I... yeah, the walk. All the flowers are out, and the sun sort of glints down among the trees, and even though it's uphill, you're not tired. Then, when you come back from the library, theres this fantastic tree where there's somewhere to sit at exactly the right level so the sun is glinting down, it's really warm and pretty and theres a little stream behind so that you feel really at ease with nature as, like me, you sit there like a complete geek and read whatever book(s) you took out the library. It's lovely, and the best part is, you don't even NOTICE the major A-Road passing by not 100 yards away.
It was also the way I had to walk to work experience, which I will admit took the gloss off a little.
But if it's sunny in my summer holidays, I tend to trek to the library every two days or so. So, today, with the fantastic weather, thats what I did, for the first time all year. And they had Tolkien stuff! And the Brownie leader from last night seved me, which was surreal... I didn't go to the tree, since wasn't THAT warm, but was nice anyway. Crocuses and daffodils and whatnot.
Bloody hell, that's the most random thing I've written in the whole time on LJ. I feel proud. what other people could do in two sentances ("I went to the library. Was nice and sunny, good memories") I did in a mini-essay.
Anyway. Have to go now. Have Book One of the Lost Tales to read!! *dances*
