My car MOT bill has come in at less than the remaining amount in my overdraft. Let me tell you, this is a monumental relief. It's nice to cry in relief at the garage rather than sobbing fear. (Also, the thing they did have to fix was something that rather urgently needed fixing, so I don't even mind.)

The flat is going unexpectedly well. I had People Around on Saturday, mostly by accident, but it went well so now I feel brave enough to have more people around soon. (I would write in more detail, but I'm typing this hastily at work when I should be working on something else IF ANYONE ASKS IT IS A GUIDE TO REPAIRING LAWNMOWERS.) The bed is due on the 29th, as is the internet/phoneline as an engineer needs to come out and physically put us back on the system. We're going to get a free sofa and two armchairs at the end of next month, courtesy of my godfather, so for now we can put up with the futon. We've been to Ikea and only had some minor bickering over whether or not the coffee table would fit in my car (it fitted, just) and soft furnishings. Richie is colour-blind, and I am currently going through a phase where I want THE MOST LURID COLOURS EVER so we have managed to end up with a panopoly of brown and cream. Oh well, at least we look classy. It's all rather nice, and the big cream cushions make the futon bearable.

It's been an expensive month, obviously; I nearly had a heart attack on Saturday when I saw how very overdrawn I was. It's also been a fairly stressful few weeks; very enjoyable, but I need some time off now. I won't get any time off from work, but I'm planning on spending this weekend mostly in bed, and all my evenings tucked up on the futon watching some rubbish telly. After that I will get around to socialising, including a housewarming party (MORE DETAILS SOON) and actually seeing people. On a hefty budget, I hasten to point out. Moving house is EXPENSIVE. Who knew?

(Also more stressful than I realised. I have erupted in what looks a bit like shaving burn, all across the beard area of my face. If I had a beard. Which I don't. I sort of hope it's just stress ezcema and will go away with copious applications of Nivea cold cream, but hiding my face in my hair is just impractical, dude. At least I know it's not fleas/bedbugs/equally hideous flat infestation as Richie has nothing similar. And probably not allergies as I don't have it anywhere else. Still, weird.)

[personal profile] balthaser, I would like it on record that I have been to Sainsburys twice and have been unable to spot you!
