I can’t help but feel vaguely proud of myself. Woke up this morning before noon (what kind of teenager am I?) and I’ve actually been active, too. Under instructions left by Mum, I’ve sorted out all the loose change in my house, to a grand total of £88. There was a reason for this – this money is, apparently, going to pay for my driving licence, and I’m under orders to give the rest bag.

So, I spent a few hours bagging the stuff up, which was tricky enough bearing in mind that I am a complete idiot when it comes to money. I do seem to be better now that I have to give people money, thought, but little 1ps are just annoying. I mean, you can’t even buy penny sweets with them anymore, why are they still in currency?

Then, of course, there was the logistics of getting £88 in loose change actually through the 15-minute walk to Ormskirk. Loaded it all up into a backpack, couldn’t pick up the bag. Slight change of plan later, I staggered into the bank and quite possibly gave the cashier a heart attack as I dumped down the money and cheerfully got me £88 in proper money. I then trooped merrily around Ormskirk with a much lighter bag, and have now sent of for a driving licence. That’s a little bit scary, actually, now that it’s Official and everything. Ugh.

Then I had to troop around Ormskirk and actually do useful things. Got Lucy’s and Megan’s birthday present, and then managed to get a copy of Sabriel for £1.49. I did have to throw my morals to the wind and buy The Times to do so, but… it’s a book! And it’s supposed to be good! And it’s cheap!

I went home, feeling generally quite pleased with myself, got half way up the road and then released that I’d forgotten the birthday cards. Back I went…

… but yes, in the space of two hours I managed to get a lot done. I do feel rather proud.

Opticians just phoned to tell me that my glasses are in. *sighs* Up to Ormskirk again…

I have new glasses, and it's fucking with my eyesight. I can never focus for the first few days, so I feel really tall as there's something up with the way I see height. It's odd. I also have to be gentle in adjusting from long vision to short vision.

I'm also getting the requistite headaches. Sigh.

At least these glases are almost identical in all but prescription to my last ones. I can never be bothered with actually picking out new ones... I dived into the glasses rack with my £37 NHS voucher and found a pair that's the same for that exact price.

Go me!

I think I need to get them further tightened, though. They're slipping down my nose more so than usual and it's a little irritating.

Parents are running around the house and panicking. My, but it's rather nice to sit back, safe in the knowledge that you don't have to survive a week in Sherwood Forezt with your younger sister. Normally, I wouldn't mind an actual trip there - OMGFOLKMYTHOLOGY TEH HISTORY! - but the whole thing will be geared around her wishes, which will mean a boring holiday that I won't enjoy.

Oooh, there's an old Janet Jackson song on the radio. Ah, memories. Used to love this song. As did Anne, the dance teacher - she was obsessed with using this for routines. *gets on down*

Or perhaps not.
