Oooweeeeeooooooooooooh!
Mar. 26th, 2005 08:30 pmDid you all watch it? DID YOU? I'm in post-squee, as it was... oh, I don't know, actually. It was peculiar, and bits seemed to jar, but it was lovely sci-fi escapism. Fun! Despite the vast sweeping majority - in fact, all - of the Brits on my flist were very much of the not alive variety when it was first transmitted or indeed finally transmitted (I watched the Paul MacGann film with my Dad - can I say for the record that it really is a family thing?) I will be muchly disappointed if I find that people didn't watch. Personally, I enjoyed it. My father enjoyed it more.
( Spoilers! )
All in all, you can damn well bet that I'm going to be watching next week, because I really liked in in a sort of "WHEEE SCI FI HERITAGE" type of way. I need to make up my mind on the theme tune, though. I still like the original music.
I'd like to thank everyone for not de-friending me in a huff on Thursday. I would have deserved it. I suspect it was dehydration and low bloodsugar. Clare phoned me up to laugh at me quite thoroughly and to tell me not to be such an idiot. She then asked why I was so concerned; frankly enough, I missed out several hours, two broken glases, a broken shoe and a trip to the pizza place. I get worried when I miss time out like that.
So, Friday meant that I actually went out with Clare. I am a Bad Catholic and have not been to Church throughout the whole Easter season. I am quite genuinely contemplating going tomorrow. Make of that what you will. It was, however, very nice seeing Clare. We drove into Southport and I didn't eat meat all day. Yay me, etc. We wandered throughout the Pier and the touristy bit, and it was all just rather nice. I then went home, drove around for a few hours in a driving lesson and discovered that I can reverse park out on instinct. If I could handle roundabouts like that, I would be sorted.
Today was Saturday, though, and I went and did returns. That truly and utterly has the highlight of my day, until Dr Who came on. That was, obviously, the other highlight. As was seeing two people on my flist become quietly addicted to Summon The Lambs To The Slaughter. I woudl not comment on this, except for the scaryness of these two lovely people.
sevenhelz and
helonlgs hold the honour of being the two Helens that I know. Don't you two feel special?
Happy Easter for tomorrow! And happy birthday to my mother for tomorrow. I have bought her a DVD of 'A Beautiful Mind' (she works in psychiatric care for the NHS, natch). I would put up a photo of her or something, except for the fact that I don't like people working out how much like each other we look. IT IS SCARY and much scarier when you put a photo of Dad up by it. ARGHARGHARGH.
I need a Dr Who icon.
( Ten pairings meme. )
Oooh, one last thing: Any Earthsea fans in the good old UK? The mini-seires is showing tomorrow on C4 at 5.20pm. Quality looks doubtful, but you never know.
