hathycol: (whoa! femmeslash!)
Feel I ought to post as [livejournal.com profile] hathy_col appears to spend the best part of her time drinking and I'll have no one telling me I can't keep up with a fresher.

I do not spend the best part of my time drinking.

Only the best part of the last two days.

As I may have mentioned, we went out on a bit of a whim. By 'we' I meant Katie, Derya and I, so no couple metality as a refreshing change. We went to Lafferty's. The thing to remember about Lafferty's is that is does 35ml shots - basically? It's a shot and a half every time.

I remembered this after my first double that was really a triple. No wonder the barmaid gave me a funny look when I ordered it. As you can probably guess, this means that I was already mildly tipsy by the time we moved onto the second round.

We had six rounds in the end. Although I was on singles after the first drink. THIS DID NOT HELP.

We sat around for hours, wreathed in cigarette smoke (my clothes reek of it - cursed second hand smoke. Also found self with a weird urge to also smoke. Obviously didn't, but weird) and talking absolute drunken bollocks and mking really odd assumptions. Also applied for a loyalty card for the bar. The barmaid just slid the application across the bar as I was ordering, and, well, I was drunk.

Oh, the shame.

We left at about... uh... not a clue, actually. However, I think it says it all when I point out that we were all holding hands and trying to skip down Abbey Street, except I kept on hitting the little turets that come out of the castle wall I peered at it suspciously.

"They've ne'er been tha' far out on the pavement," I observed fuzzily.

"No," agreed Derya. "'s'jumped out!"

"Bassard," said I, and kicked it.

"YA BAM!" chimed in Katie. What does that actually mean? It is Scottish, I know this, and is insulting, but I have no idea how it translates and I'm slightly afraid to ask.

Also, we were singing 'I Will Survive'.

Just process that. We were singing 'I Will Survive'. Oh, god.

We came back home - Sarah opened the door for us as she heard us struggling to make the key card work - and then all collapsed on my bed in a pile of drunkenness, with Sarah standing over us and dying with laughter. I then recieved a phone call from [livejournal.com profile] zeta_of_s who I hope found my appalling state faintly amusing if nothing else, although I will never let Katie speak to him AGAIN, at least while drunk.

This morning was painful. I woke up at 10 and spoke to Katie for a while.

"Ow. Hangover."

"Oh yes."

"... did I talk to Simon last night?"

"You did indeed."

"I slurred at him, didn't I?"

"That you did, and he mentioned it after I got back on the phone to him. I think he found it amusing."

"Well, that's something, as long as I'm VERY FAR AWAY the next time he comes here... is Brazil far enough, you think?"

I got up agaihn at 12.3 and then ran around a lot, trying to get a drink of water and a toastie and do my history reading. Spanish was actually physically painful, as I found myself unable to read in a foreign language to save my life. ARGH IT BURNS.

One trip to the chemist and some paracetamol later, I wasn't too bad. This was a positive thing, as I had to go and meet Tom and Rebecca for history tutorial preparation. Found it really interesting and ended up having an Intellectual Chat in between meanderings on our lives and the class system and St Andrews on the whole. Not too bad, really, and it does my good to have talks like this, as opposed to my ones with my housemates, which is about cooking and cleaning and apologising for being absolutely ratted at them.

I am not going out tonight. Or if I do, I'm drinking water.
