It looks as though the painter is coming around to paint the house today. This is a very bad thing, as it apparently means three days where I can't get at the shower.
Argh!
They put a letter through the door asking us what day wasn't convenient to paint. I said 25th January wasn't good, because then I would have a CUNNING PLAN. Essentially, I could have showered on the day I have to say, teach a small teenager English for two hours, and then the next morning - Cambridge Day! - I wouldn't have to go and find a porter at about 7am for the privilege of having a shower.
OH JOY AND RAPTURE. How I love thee, Fife Park. Here's hoping they won't actually push their rude way through the door. They have a key, so don't knock first. I hate this feeling that my house isn't my own.
Also, I am in Scotland. I am apparently in the one bit of the world that isn't snowing. Gah. Might be a good thing, of course, given the fairly large amount of cross-country driving I have tomorrow, as well as the train on Friday. Ho hum.
In the postive side, I have Stuff To Do today. All of it can be done in my pajamas, which is a very good thing. I have already cleaned the kitchen somewhat ruthlessly. Next, I will have the joy of making hnadouts and stuff and seeing if that works for teaching my wee tutee. If not, I panic and come up with something else, but that's a worry for tomorrow.
Then I get to finish my massive LOTR splurge and watch Return of the King. Oh, god, I forgot how much I loved Lord of the Rings. I cried like a girl at some of The Two Towers earlier on. More puzzingly, I seem to have forgotten vast swathes of the exetended edition, which puzzles me. And oh! Miranda Otto is just as beautiful as I remember.
Right. Worksheet times.
[eta: I have managed to sweet-talk the builders into not painting until Friday. Making them tea the first day they turned up was clearly a Smart Move. I habve also compressd Macbeth into half a page. I win!]
