So, last night I was bored. As such, I decided that going for a walk was a good and sensible idea. Walked all the way to West Sands, watched the sunset, enjoyed that it was, you know, warm. Lovely. I wish I'd taken my camera, actually; it was a really lovely sight. Typically it's miserable today, of course.

Anyway, on the way home I passed the Byre Theatre. I heard music, saw the sign 'free!' and thought, well, why not? So I popped in, had a glass of wine, and listened in on an open mic night. I really enjoyed myself, got talking to some people, had another glass, and ended up at a beach bonfire until about three in the morning when I had to make a hasty getaway from someone who decided that as I was there and had breasts I clearly deserved to be kissed in a manner that can be best described as 'washing machine'. Ugh ugh ugh.

Anyway. I enjoyed myself - I'll definitely be heading back to the Byre again because the quality of performance was really high (and free) and random stuff is always fun - but this summer isn't exactly shaping up to be the way it should have been. I had all these plans about, well, Simon being here, enjoying the sun, getting on with my dissertation, drinking in beer gardens, all that good stuff. Instead, I'm sort of just here and floating around and being a bit useless, because it's really hard to make any plans when everyone is either a. not here or b. works completely opposite hours to me. Basically, I think I just need a kick up the arse to stop being so naff. This week, I am making a resolution to do at least an hour on my dissertation every day, more if I have the day off. I should go and get on with that, then. I'm also going to look into doing some exercise, because I'm not really getting any at the moment and I'm realising how much I miss that from my daily working routine. Does anyone have any suggestions? I quite fancy something like aerobics.

However, today is a day that I'm looking forward to, which is nice. Doctor Who tonight, and then the Alleycats (a St Andrews choir) has got through to the last fifteen of the program thats on afterwards, Last Choir Standing, so that's going to be good to watch. Plus today is my day off, so I'm going to get some cleaning done which is well overdue now.

Good grief, I'm domestic.
