Last night, Sarah came around armed with a pair of hairdressing scissors. She cut my hair in second year and did a fairly solid job of it, and she's been promising to remove my excess head fluff for a while now. She did so, and now I'm a bit worried that I've had too much taken off.

The thing is, though, my hair was ridiclously long. It's very thick and ridiculously curly, so any massive length looks pretty for a while, then frizzes up, and then I can't get a brush through it and then after a while it tries to stampede through downtown Tokyo. If I had left it for much longer it probably would have started fighting dinosaurs in cityscapes and everything. The moral of the story is that when your hair is dragging you towards the Pacific Ocean it's time to bribe your ex-housemate into trimming it for you, basically.

I normally like it sort of 'just above shoulder' when it looks cute and kooky if I leave it out. Now it's just... cute, in a sort of small-child bob way, but I still rather like it. Katie got hers done too, and looks rather better for it.

So when I woke up this morning, I was in a great mood. I did my hair, left it out to see what would happen, went into work, got out an hour early, and sat in the sun by the cathedral, eating ice cream from Janetta's (my first this year!), possibly going a little pink in the cheeks and not really caring. I walked home on the beach for the first time this year, and delighted in the fact that for the first day this year, you could really tell that summer might in fact happen this year.

Then I came home to see that Andy Hallett, who played my favourite character in Angel, Lorne, had died at 33. Which is, quite frankly, bloody awful indeed. Swings and roundabouts.
