hathycol: (content kaylee)
This week has been a week of 'last ever' things, and I would feel morose if I didn't just feel so tired.

Saturday night heralded a black tie pub crawl. The plan was to go to rhe Rule as a group of everyone who would have been at the OddBall and then possibly head elsewhere. Unfortunately, the Rule decided that it was going to be baking and also kareoke night. We trid to head elsewhere, and after a couple of missed starts we blagged out way into the Union - including three people with matriculation cards! - and proceeded to get leathered. I thought I was the worst, but I've been informed at least one person fell several times at home, so I don't feel so awful! It was lovely catching up with people like Philip and Ann, so it was definitely worth it.

Othan than that, it's been a mostly academic week. I had my last ever class on Tuesday something I might have felt more sad about if I wasn't desperate to pee by the end of it. I also finished my last ever essay just this morning - it amazes me I managed to get it done on time - and am now preparing for my last ever AltSoc, which I'm DJ-ing for but haven't actually prepared for yet. I also had my last ever DocSoc on Tuesday, which I didn't cry at - amazing! - although it was The Happiness Patrol which confused me intently.

... so, yes. Go out tonight, and then start revising tomorrow. Well. Probably.

So, I've been thinking about this thing, and to be honest, I'd like it to be seperate from my LJ. I have a lot of respect for the people cross-posting, etc, but I'd like to have this account as my fannish sort of place, with some bits about my life, without the boring inanities. So I'm going to work on getting all my fic up first, and I think I'll use tags here, too.

Basically, I'm not just name-squatting; my LJ is like a big scrapbook filled with everything from stories, voice recordings, songs, diaries, private stuff, public stuff. As you might expect from a seven-year project. I'd love this journal to be somewhere I make friends as well as a slightly less randomised testiment to my madness.

We'll see, I suppose.

Title: That Sort Of Thing
Author: [profile] hathy_col
Fandom: Discworld
Pairing/characters: Carrot, Vimes, OC pairing.
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Discworld belongs to Sir Terry of Pratchett and I’m not making a penny from this minor work.
Prompt: Discworld, Captain Carrot, Dwarf-born Carrot doesn't understand why being attracted to other men is any different from being attracted to women, since in dwarf society demonstrations of gender are repressed completely and just making sure you can breed with your lover takes a bit of skill. It falls to Vimes to explain that Ankh-Morpork works a bit differently.
Summary: Vimes learns something about dwarfs. Carrot doesn’t really learn anything helpful about humans. This is par for the course, really.
