May. 16th, 2009 05:27 pmThe hamster has returned! Silly bastard. He got hungry, we think. He is now more or less hedged in by piling videos on top of his cage, a technique that has thus far worked.
This far, mind.
Wednesday night heralded my lovely academic children taking my out for a meal at the Grill House. I had a good go at getting drunk and therefore didn't, despite imbibing a large amount of frozen margarita. It was really lovely to see all of them bar Lucia, and they'd bought me a bottle of South American wine, because I'm El Presidente. (The new DocSoc president is now named Mon Capitane, which feels... appropriate.) We sat around, and chatted, and I felt rather sad at the thought that my time with all these lovely people is running out.
However, that is something to worry about after exams. I am revising away like a mad beaver and to my mild amazement I'm actually exactly on target right now. God knows how, but I'm not arguing with it. Saying that, I went to work yesterday, I went today, and I'm going tomorrow. Ah well. I got a tax rebate this morning so on the bright side I bought shoes after work. Yes, I am that shallow, but they're very nice shoes indeed.
Tonight is Eurovision! I am officially excited, although a little depressed that I can't drink; DRA is on the other side of town (I used to live slightly outside of it, so I know exactly how long that walk is) and it's raining on and off, so I've agreed to be Colleen The Taxi tonight, i.e. no drinking. This does mean that I can wear my new shoes. EXCITING. Plus it means that everyone who lives on my side of town gets to worship and adore me as the amazing one with a licence and a car, as I rightly should be. Does mean I can't drink, which is a shame, as Eurovision is a world more fun with a drink or six inside you, but I rather suspect that would make work and revision tomorrow rather difficult, too...
New shoes! Tax rebate! Hamster back! Eurovision! GOOD TIMES.
