flirting with disaster
Jul. 19th, 2009 05:47 pmI spent most of Saturday in bed. Fifteen hours, to be precise, with a wee nap in the afternoon. I felt far more sane and healthy, until the moment I realised that my purse was not, in fact, in my house. After a brief moment of trying not to cry, I ripped my house to shreds, went to the police station, came home, cancelled all my cards, went out to a friend's house for pre-arranged pizza and DVDs.
Fortunately, my purse had been located in WH Smiths - which is where I left it after paying my gas and council tax on Friday night - and seemingly hasn't been touched, which is brilliant indeed. Cards remain cancelled, and I don't have internet banking, so I can't check my balance but I'm pretty confident it should be okay. Unfortunately, I do have all of £9.50 to live off until... well, hopefully no later than the end of the week. Curses. I wanted to go to the pub this week, but looks as though that's out of the balance. Luckily I did the food shop on Thursday, hurrah!
This week mostly feels like a continual series of near-misses, all things considered.
I haven't really updated properly. I have been to see Harry Potter, and I have some thoughts on it. ( Spoilers! ) And yes, my only Harry Potter icon is the one of sexy!Voldemort. Shhh.
So, to a week of tight budgeting. I have enough for bread and milk, which tends to be my only essentials. At least I found the bloody thing, and I do not seem to swine flu, or at least a nasty version of it. Small mercies. Let's hope next week is kinder.
