Sep. 20th, 2009 01:20 pmOn Friday night, I shut down my computer, deciding that I'd had enough of application forms for one day. I watched Strictly Come Dancing and had an early night. Woke up for work the next day, went in, came home, prepared self to finish off application forms. I felt good about these jobs, actually.
Computer is refusing to work. Apparently there is an error loading operating system. Cue massive panic. If the application forms go, they go, that's okay, I probably wasn't going to get the job anyway, but that laptop is my last link of freedom. The car issue is still not resolved, so I can't really get to places very easily at the moment, and, you know, I live with my parents. I can't even get wireless upstairs, but sitting on my bed watching DS9 is a little slice of peace and quiet and awesome telly.
As such, I am sat on what is cheerfully nicknamed the Babbage 500 by my Dad (a misnomer; I suspect the Babbage was quicker and more efficient) which means I can at least get internet access, which is a mercy as otherwise I might choke someone. And I need a new laptop anyway, since the old one was beginning to blank out randomly on me and the battery was refusing to charge and basically it was as dead as a dead thing, and I'm sure I can get someone to transfer my data over, as the hard-drive is fine and did in fact get replaced only a few months ago.
STILL THOUGH ARGH. Does anyone have any recommendations for me? I am rubbish with technology. I need a PC as, well, I don't have a need for a Mac, but other than that I am wide open to your cheap suggestions.
(I was tempted to start this post with a very Ron Weasley "WHY IS EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE CRAPPY?" which is terms of stuff I own is basically true. Yesterday, however, I also got twelve red roses through Interflora since it turns out I have been with Richie for a year now, so clearly everything in my life is not crappy at all.
