Feb. 11th, 2010 08:05 pmMy father is pulling my laptop apart, using tiny little screwdrivers derived from Christmas crackers and an old pair of my Mum's tweezers. I am on a computer affectionately known as The Babbage 5000 and I suspect at least two ice ages passed while I waited for it to load.
Yeah, we're rocking up the high-tech lifestyle here. Maybe later I will lug out the old Amiga 1200!
So, yes, I managed to coax laptop into life for long enough to back up my music and my photos (an iPod - surprisingly handy!) and at the end of the day if I can't transfer the contents of the old hard drive across then it's a pain but it's not the end of the world. I tend to back most stuff up nowadays anyway after learning my lesson that time that a computer ate my dissertation. SENSIBLE, SEE. Maybe Dad will fix The Issues - we'll see.
Erm, what else. I have had my hair cut and after the traditional panic about it, I have decided that I like it, and it's also curly again as I've cut off all the damage caused by straighteners over the summer. This is clearly marvellous. Last night we also had a Grown Up Moving Out House Summit, with the aid of more vodka than I care to recall right now, which has led to decisions being made and viewings being booked. In even better news, I'm going to St Andrews this weekend! Not for Valentine's Day, that is merely coincidence. The best Valentine's Days I've ever had was the time that Katie bought me chocolates and a rose and in the evening Kim and I went to the pub, and the one I spent by myself eating crisps and dip and watching the Terminator films. I'm planning on keeping a winning streak, thank you kindly. As such, I will have a lovely time in St Andrews without the pressure. Sometimes a unilateral strike in the way forwards.
Work continues dreadful, but you can't have everything, I suppose. I need the money, I really do, but I'm not objecting to the concept of four-day weekends, at least.
