Dec. 3rd, 2010 08:30 pmWork has just been dreadful. The stupid of my employers, it burns.
On Wednesday, though, K leaned over to me. "Are you going to the gym tonight?" she asked.
"No, I'm going to see Harry Potter. Why?"
K looked embarrased. "My mum wants you to come for tea."
Allow me to explain. K, every so often, brings in a really nice smelling curry. When you say "ooh, what's that?" she smiles, and says "Mo's curry!" It's her Mum's secret recipe, and it always smells divine. She let me try a bit a couple of weeks ago and I was in raptures - it was delicious. Anyway, K had told this to her mum and her mum - a woman I have only spoken to on the phone on one occasion - was actually making some specially for me on the basis that I had just moved out and being younger than K (only by a year) I am clearly starving to death and required food.
Anyway, I had to turn K down, and went to see Harry Potter, which was good but I don't think I have anything original to add to what people have said about it. I came out to find two text messages on my phone - one from Julia, checking I hadn't died in the ice (it's nice to know my housemates care for my welfare!), and one from K telling me that her mum would bring in some curry for me on Thursday, even though K wouldn't in work. "Oh, bless," I thought.
No curry appeared on Thursday, which was fine as it was lovely of her just to think about me. On Friday morning, though, I got a text from K telling me her mum was on the way and then K's mum turned up with a big tub of curry for me as well as some chocolate biscuits for the office.
I don't care if I'm 23 and have my own living parents, I want to be adopted by K's mum!
So I bought the curry home, and I ate it this evening. Even if it had been horrible, I am always up for free food, but it was actually delicious. OM NOM NOM.
So although work is awful, and the weather is awful, and I have to get up at stupid o'clock tomorrow for the privilege of paying the garage an awful lot of money to fix what is probably a minor problem, there are significant bright spots in my current existence. On Sunday I am going to brave the winter landscape to do my Christmas shopping/find a party dress as next weekend I am going to three different Christmas parties in two different countries. HELL YEAH.
