hathycol: (PENGUINS)
I have been remarkably sociable the last two weeks. My last post has ended up being over two weeks ago, so if I don't get caught up now I never will!

So. Last weekend heralded a Friday night of going to apub in Walthamstow with my godfather, who was watching a band that has a friendof his in it. It was a proper East end pub, with at one point a bald bloke coming in with a large sheepskin jacket. Still, it was fun, and good to be out.

On Saturday we went out for [personal profile] loneraven's birthday, which was super good fun and full of awesome. Iona had managed to find us a bar that sold cocktails that came in teapots, and although I didn't really know anyone there it was a great bunch of people. We gigged a lot about fangirly stuff, and poured a lot of pink wine when we went out for food, and generally had a great time. I am very pleased to be living near [personal profile] loneraven!

After desperately catching up of sleep on Sunday and Monday, Tuesday was another recording of Dilemma. Ladies and gentlemen, I actually boo-ed Sue Perkins. Loudly. I started the boos. This was because she said that she would burn Doctor Who episodes. I will say no more for fear of spoiling the series but I feel that my point remains valid!

On Wednesday, I went out with work for one drink. Which was odd, given that I ended up coming home very late and very drunk and the next day had to compare notes with N to find out at what point we had in fact left the bar. It was good to bond with some people, though, even if I did slightly throw up on the Tube the next day before swallowing it down and wishing I was dead. I powered through the hangover in the end.

This weekend, I had lots of people round in a sort of unexpected manner. Matt was meant to be around for the weekend, which is fine and we were all prepared for that. We then ended up with Ann and Fiona, and then at the last minute Dee. And a Burns Night supper. Which I ended up cooking.

...

Yeah. As I said, unexpected but a pleasant weekend. Richie went to pick them up and they didn't get back to our flat until near enough to 11pm, by which point I was starving to death although not hungry enough to eat haggis. We stayed up until about 4am in the end, watching Bullseye and Knightmare and generally gossiping. The next day was great fun as we ended up heading out to London Zoo! Which is really bloody hard to get to by public transport, but still a good day. Otters are AMAZING, that's all I'm saying. And butterflies are surprisingly scary when they LAND OF YOUR HEAD GET IT OFF GET IT OFF GET IT OFF.

When we got home we were all shattered though, so ordered a mound of takeaway (which ended up coming with loads of free extras, so lots of food for everyone) and then schlepped out to the pub, where Fiona had a great party game we ended up playing whilst cackling with laughter. Basically, we all wrote stuff on slips of paper and then went in rounds through the pile guessing what they were, ended with just acting. Every second answer was 'Bullseye' 'Jim Bowen' 'Knightmare' or 'Barry off Knightmare', all of which are surprisingly tricky to act when in a pub so having to stay sat down. My sides ached from laughing.

The flat is empty now, as people peeled off and we went for lunch and trains started to be due. Now the flat is cleared up and we're watching TV, waiting for Ripper Street to start, which is a post I need to make soon because it is really unexpectedly awesome.

Back to work tomorrow. Next week is definitely going to a quieter one, but it's been a good fortnight.
