What a turn around for the books. I'm arsing around on the internet and Megan is (supposedly) revising. Admittingly, she has a modular maths GCSE in two days. HA! She's starting the horrible, four year cycle of mocks, exams, modules, coursework and other wonderful byproducts of the British examination system. It dawned on me that I am in my final year of that cycle and I nearly passed out with relief.

So, what have I been up to? I've been a busy little bunny, actually. Saturday was, obviously, work, which I woke up horribly late for due to the fact I slept in. Argharghargh. Ran around a lot at work whilst panicking, before calming down and going to see The Grudge.

Oh my god. I was terrified. These are the things I learnt:

1. Stupid Westerners go to Japan and don't even learn the language? They were asking for it.
2. I am never sleeping again.
3. Or picking up the phone.

It was fabulous seeing [livejournal.com profile] hammer_strike again, though, even if I did have to slap him upside the head for trying to scare me. Bad Simon! I skipped home and tried not to think too much about the fact it was dark and cold and ARGH THE STREETLIGHT JUST WENT OFF I'M GOING TO DIE.

Baaaah.

Next day, after an unsurprisingly small amount of sleep, I woke up early and got ready to go to the Remembrance Day parade. Problem: Ranger jumper was covered in ink. I panicked somewhat, and put on my coat and resolved that I wouldn't take it off. After physically dragging Megan out of bed and to the parade, I met up with my one other Guide who turned up. Did the leaders? Did they buggary. Quite hurt by this, but as least I turned up and looked like a Responsible Young Leader.

And then we marched through Ormskirk, sort of ambling along behind the regimented band and the air force cadets. I was amused to see lots of people I knew from high school, two people from politics and also Helen from English playing the euphonium in the brass band. Ain't life odd? I just remember looking at the clock at 10.15 and thinking "God, I'm walking down the main street in Ormskirk on a Sunday at 10.15..." and feeling like I wanted to go back to the bed. The service was the usual, of course - one scary looking Methodist preacher, the Baptist refuses as they have every year since 1912, the Catholics send two in a sort of "NYEH!" fashion but the Anglican lords it over by making announcements so we all know we're on his turf. I dislike Anglican services. The fun with Catholicism is the ritual, the glamour, the fact that if you don't listen to the sermon it's actually a rather pretty service. Anglicanism is a dulled down version of this. Bring back the Mass in Latin! If I can understand any of it then I'm not impressed!

Went home and saw Clare! Mum tried very desperately to feed her veggie food, so Clare, you're a part of the family now. We watched The Day After Tomorrow and felt cold, as you do.

Blah. That was my weekend. Today was a passable day - although I have a scary amount of politics for Friday. I also have lots of free periods coming up, as I, quite sensibly, have no resits in January. HA! HAHA! *coughs*

Oh, and...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] purplerainbow FOR TOMORROW! In case I don't get online tomorrow (it's likely) I want it to be known that Hannah is the happiest, bounciest and most purple person I know. She's generally rather fantastic, exudes 1950s film star chic, is a fabulous actress and general English girly, is the only person I know to genuinely enjoy college life and all in all is a wonderful person and someone I'm very glad to have a friend. I would say all this on her actual birthday, but, y'know, can't get online so I'll celebrate it today. HAPPITY BIRTHDAY!
