Jan. 4th, 2011 06:09 pmI slept through my alarm this morning. I must have rolled over to the other side, as I heard my phone desperately bleeping the reminder notice at me. Swore loudly and flung myself into the shore, trying to simultaneously wash my hair and wake up, which normally ends with shampoo in the eyes. It did this time, too.
After getting frantically dressed (this, you see, is why I leave my clothes out the night before) I scuttled downstairs to make my lunch and some breakfast. Dropped the milk all over the floor. Swore loudly again. Apparently there was a partial solar eclipse which explains why it was so dark, but failed to explain THE CURSE I was apparently under.
After eating breakfast, I got my stuff together and headed out to the car, which was FROZEN. Not unexpected, but it snowed very lightly in the night and then froze, which is the worst kind of stuff to de-ice. Swore loudly again, and set to trying to make enough of my car visible so I wouldn't die on the drive to work.
... still, only one person threatened to sue us today so I suppose on balance it could have been a worse day back. My e-mail inbox was threatening to explode, but the majority were friendly enquiries, and the phonecalls weren't too bad. I'm using the 'other' ear for calls, though, which feels very wrong and led to some interesting balancing acts with pens and whatnot.
I very, very much need a new job for 2011. When 'only one person is threatening to sue' is considered a good day, you know you're in trouble.
