Beautiful boys on a beautiful dancefloor
Jan. 9th, 2005 10:02 pmI am just a little bit tired. I have that strange, fuzzy feeling behind my eyes and my body is aching with particular emphasis on my spine, and I've lost my voice.
Training never fails to amaze me.
So, my day. I woke up far too early and went 'bleurgh' and decided that I couldn't be bothered to get up early enough to shower. I still got up a few minutes later though, feeling very much bleurghy and wandered around the house in a daze. Threw on the first things I found, remembered I'd be outdoors all day and put another t-shirt on underneath the baggy layers, put a jumper on, got my hobo!gloves and hobo!hat and my coat and tramped outside. I have finally updated my MP3 player so I was happily bopping along to new music on the way there, actually feeling really rather perky. God knows why, but I didn't feel too ill, and it was training! I like training. I really do. I had ironed the tabbards for the Phoenixes (I am part-leader, part-Mum. I was handing out tissues at one point) and I was generally rather happy. Turned up at Dan's first and recieved a late belated Christmas pressie - an absolutely gorgeous money box for the Phoenixes. Wheee!
Training was reduced. Some people seem to prioritise exams, for some reason. *shakes head* Strange people. The Phoenixes are a remarkably small bunch and today there were three of the us - The Lovely Kathryn, Daryl *kickkickkick* and obviously me. I put on my long, long tabbard which I rather like despite the fact it is many levels of too long. I am a midget. The previous owner was not, the others were kitted up, the Gryphons were in red and people remarked about how The Phoneixes resembled either ninjas or warrior monks. Both are good by my logic.
So, training. My first real commanding, and bigods I'm AWFUL. WOn every so often, but the people I had were generally better for one-on-one stuff - we'd happily win that, but we were buggared when we needd tactics. Also, people with the not listening? Distressing. The members who have been around a while were good at listening and bitchwhacking where necessary, quite a lot of relative n00bs were good, but a few were not. Daryl in particular. A few hours in, I actually stood in front of him and said
"Formation. Stay in it. Stuff up the formation and we all lose. Should you break the formation WITHOUT MY SAYSO then the next session I will hit you over the head with a dictionary until you can repeat the definition backwards."
I would have said it to others, but not in my militia, not my problem.
Daryl broke formation. I have to find a hardback dictionary.
"But... there was an opening! Someone was coming around the side!"
"Then PARRY it."
"But... I couldn't!"
"Tell me, I would have sent someone with you than rather suddenly have a gaping hole in the wall WHERE WE ALL GOT SLAUGHTERED THROUGH."
I got hit repeatedly in the same spot around my spine by EVIL EVIL SPEARS and now I am in a lot of pain and probably bruised. Gaaaah.
And now I am at home, croaky, in pain, tabbards to wash (DAMN YOU DARYL) and all in all not looking forward to college tomorrow. Although I feel proud that I am now part was through Congress. Revision is going well! Ish.
