Jan. 23rd, 2005 09:12 pmAn essay on being a Christian and reading/enjoying slash fanfiction. Read it. It made me wnt to print it off, run to my old high school, and jump up and down screaming "THERE! READ THAT AND GET OFF YOUR FUCKING HIGH HORSE!"
Not that the Bible said anything against femmeslash, o' course, but we all know about the blanketing of this sort of thing.
Actually, Catholicism's argument against homosexuality would be the same as the one against condoms, from what I remember of RE lessons for five years. This is not a philosophy shared by the particularly intolerant and currently powerful Christian fundies. So... weh?
I could leave it there. After all, this was supposed to be an essay about slash fiction, not about gay rights. However, if you've suffered condemnation for enjoying slash, and if it's left you feeling crushed, worthless, desolate, then consider this: this is what gay people go through all of their lives.
This is wonderful. I mean... yeah, I believe in God, now that I've thought rationally about it rather than just a kneejerk RELIGION BAD schoolgirl attitude. And it's always rather confused me as to why the loving, caring God I thought I knew was encouraging hatred and intolerance through the Church...
Go and read that essay. GO NOW.
