Apr. 28th, 2005 11:30 amYesterday, I skived politics in the end, merely because I needed to get the lift home. I wish I hadn't, as my afternoon was filled with the joy that is cooking bolagnase for a family of four, three of whom eat meat, one of whom doesn't, one of whom hates mushrooms and one of whom hates peppers.
Also, nobody left me a recipe. So I sort of made it up as I went along and made Dad tell me stuff when he wandered in covered in plaster and then looked insulted when I shrieked like a banshee and told him to GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THE DAMNED FOOD.
I forgot the garlic until the last minute, didn't have enough tomatoes or onions and put too much basil in the meat one. Still, it was a relative success. I have also lost all feeling in a wuater of my tongue as I forgot to blow on mine before I tasted it. Doh!
College is being annoying still. I have actually done some of my homework (egads!) but not all of it. I am definitely taking Friday off, though. An actual lie in will be blissful.
(Tricia Helfer isn't coming! Oh buggar. Still have Katee Sackhoff. Hey, this means I can afford a LOTR guest! Yay! Sort of.)
I am unbelieveably tired. And now I have English. Damn.

Date: 2005-04-28 01:41 pm (UTC)Offhand, here's our family recipe for meat bolognaise (and it's VERY yummy indeed)
1/2 to 3/4 pound of beef mince
5-6 mushrooms, chopped
1/2 onion, chopped
1 oxo cube
1/2 tsp oregano
1 tbsp tomato puree
1 400g tin napolina peeled plum tomatoes, blended (usually by hand blender)
Pinch of salt. And not the Gary Rhodes fist-sized pinch, either. The little pinch between two - three fingers max pinch.
Recipe: Take all above, bung it in a pan, stir, then leave to cook and add water as necessary if it gets too thick. Also, take a swig of sherry. Don't ask me why, but the recipe always works better if the cooks take a swig of sherry during the cooking.
