Firstly, thanks to all who sent music, but I ended up leaving out Kelly Osbourne and Puddle of Mudd - sorry, [livejournal.com profile] balthaser.

So. This is how my brain works.

This story, as I may have mentioned, will probably never see the light of day. And I mean, like, ever. This doesn't stop me letting it take over my life, having folders full of notes, drawings, maps and drafts. The first one is finished, the two sequels are not and further ones are planned. It's what I spent chunks of my summer doing. I never get around to typing it all up. It's my epic of fanfiction and belongs soleyl and completely to The Lord Of The Rings. Worryingly, aspects of it have been rattling around my brain since I first read it. But when I first sat down and starting writing it, I was on fire. It was about twenty pages a day on fire. And certain bits of music remind me of it and whatnot. I'll try and explain as I go on. I've been meaning to make this CD for a year or so, but Ye Olde Computer was Ye Shite.

1. Avril Lavigne - Complicated.

Before you all throw bottles and fruit, allow me to explain. Avril Lavigne is a big emo pop princess. We know this. But this song was ALL OVER the radio that first summer, and the lyrics seemed to fit for some crazy reason. Well. One did. Somebody else around everyone else. That lyric stuck. I know. It's terrible. Shoot me.

2. Pink - 18 Wheeler

NO EXCUSE. See above, but replace 'radio' with 'my CD player'. Are you ready for today? Got your shield and sword?

3. Emiliana Torrini - Gollum's Song

Finally, a bit of class. This song, for those that don't know, is the song-over-the-credits for TTT and it's hauntingly beautiful. It fits perfectly for so many reasons, although a lot of this is actually due to the musical bit at the end.

4. Nightwish - Nemo

This obviously wasn't out when I started writing it, but I sat up and went "WHOA!" when I first heard it. Whatever is going on in the collective mind of that band is similiar top what was going on in mind.

5. Led Zepplin - Stairway To Heaven

If you're a LOTR fan and haven't heard this song then you deserve to be shot. Frankly.

There's a feeling I get
When I look to the West
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking.

I love this song. Hell, it's directly inspired by Tolkien, dammit.

6. The Calling - Wherever You Will Go

It's a bit sloshy and romantic. I have no better excuse.

7. Sugababes - Stronger

Shit, I'm losing my Rawk Chick credentials. Believe it or not, I rather like the Sugababes and this song fits in for the section of the story and the bit of my life when I wrote it. Think the Septemeber I went to college.

Seriously, they're good. I may be the only one who thinks this.

8. Something Corporate - Konstantine

Do you know I miss you? I miss you...

No words needed.

9. Led Zepplin - Kashmir

This song remains to this day my Battle Scene music. It's just... it's hard. Some of the lyrics, now I listen to it, are very Whovian. Weird. It fits to everything, basically. And, of course, it's a damned good song. No excuses here.

10. Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill

I didn't hear this song until after I'd finished the first story, but... wow. Th Placebo version is delicate and beautiful and I love it dearly. This one, though, is... I don't know. There's something wonderful about it, and it fits for the story. It doesn't hurt me... but you want to know how it feels. This song is gorgeous. I love it. She sounds so agonised at the end that it's almost painful to listen to.

11. Sugababes - Breathe Easy

I warned you I liked them. This song is all done acoustically, and it's... oh, it's lovely. Every single lyric fits.

12. Train - Drops of Jupiter

I write fanfic about weird, distant worlds. This song fits too. See The Calling.

13. Coldplay - The Scientist

I don't know enough words to say why I love this song. This song is... god, when I ehar it it's a little bit like watching a trailer of the fic in my head. I can see how the words fit perfectly over the whole thing. The song gives me the cold shivers, although I'm sure Chris Martin wasn't aiming at that.

Heh. That was dull.

Today I have done very little. I woke up in a horribly bleary mess and went to work. I hate my work. I don't know if I've ever stated that with enough emphasis. It makes me so tired and awful, and I come home and can't revise to save my life. As such, no interesting fact will be forthcoming. Alas and indeed eheu.

HOWEVER! Doctor Who is on tonight. As [livejournal.com profile] elyim says, bleh Slitheen. But also Gelth (as far as I can tell) on the basis that it's in Cardiff and they keep on talking about the rift. Poor old Gywneth. Doctor Who makes me happy, but small children in work imitating the empty child? NOT FUNNY AT ALL.

Now. To the salad!

I have no credibility to worry about losing, so I can quite happily say that I adore #1, 6, 7 and 12. And of course Led Zeppelin, but that's a credible song to like :p

yes, but isn't it funny that they actually know the quote?
if there's any bits of your fics that just need typing, not editing, i'd be happy to lend a hand.
xx

Oh, god, it needs editing. There are such differences in places. Thank for the offer though - it's really kind.

Everyone should love Led Zeppelin! But considering that my music taste includes (normally) Rammstein and Marilyn Manson, this playlist is... weird.
