For some reason, I appear to have rediscovered my ability to write. I'm not entirely sure where it's come from, but I'm going to hold onto it while I still have it. I am writing something approaching erudite LiveJournal posts, I have rediscovered my ability to write, and I even want to my wanky And Talk About Comments on my journal.

Firstly - Courting Gloriana. Apparently, people are reccing it, and not just [livejournal.com profile] loneraven who beta-ed it and probably has some sort of silent agreement to rec it. This is the first time this has ever happened. Now, it's probably all a rather terrifying flash in the pan, but I had such a hoot writing that fic. I got to research Elizabeth I. I got to watch Elizabeth again. I got to put Shaun Ogg in!

(As a side note, it was never going to be Shaun Ogg. It was actually going to be William Scribbens. There should be precisely one person on my flist who knows who this is. William Scribbens is a Snail Boy Of Brentford and can be found in 'The Witches Of Chiswick' by Robert Rankin. Since only [livejournal.com profile] zeta_of_s would get this, I decided it was pointless and Shaun Ogg might well be funnier. A Watch Guard was too obvious, really. If anyone else knows of William Scribbens on my flist, I will be forced to hunt them down and squee at them.)

Writing can be fun. I think, along the way, I may have forgotten that. I'm alo lucky to have some really rather fun characters to write with. I have no idea how Tenant will play out, and I'm sure he'll be great, but god, I don't half like Jack. He's so much fun. What is about characters called Jack? I loved writing Jack for Stargate. Ho hum. As such, I am enjoying writing, and I am really enjoying getting comments about this fic. To be precise, I am actually squeeing over this. Eeehee. Thank you, everyone.

My last post. That was probably the most philosophical this journal has been for a long time. I do want this journal to be like that, but I also see my journal as a scrapbook of my life. Does that make sense? It has lots of silly photos in it. It has friends, it has the odd family member, and it has little films and everything. It's great. Mostly, it's a case of "I did this today!" or it's a case of "I'm miserable" and sometimes it's a long write-up, or mostly the word 'squee' is involved. Yesterday, I was philosophical. It was oddly fun. I wouldn't go and get used to it or anything, mind. I think I was just reminded how much I love LJ.

Today, I had something resembling exercise. I went out with Clare (YAYSQUEE) and we went to walk her dog. What with the weatherman cheerfully predicted blindingly hot days, it made sense to go out across fields and down the old Roman Road. Even went via an old Guide walk - I have finally put two and two together about going camping in Heswall and where various people live. We brought back a wet dog and a stick, and an annoyance that the clouds had come in. The sun deigned to show its face in time for me to go home and Clare to go to work. Sod's law.

Speaking of work, I phoned up for seven jobs today. My lack of decent paying job is getting ridiculous, so I have phoned up and nagged a nursing home about a domestic job, lied about a chambermaid's job ("Well, I have VAST voluntary cleaning experience") and left enough messages with answer machines and domestic regional managers and uuuuggghhhh. Let's hope something comes of it, preferably from the one about the domestic staff for the old people's home down the road. That means I can walk.

Why so I need money? I NEED DVDS. I desperately want The Phantom Of The Opera DVD, and Spirited Away. I also want some Doctor Who goodness, ideally the TV movie. I fully appreciate it's meant to be crap, but it has the Master in it and I want to see an episode with every Doctor in it. I plan on getting Six over with by watching The Caves Of Androzani. I still want some DVDs though, and some CDs too. Also, I want to go away this summer. And go to Cardiff. And go and see Andrew in London. And I can't do this without petrol money. As such - I need money. If I have to get it by scrubbing out toilets, then I will do.

It'll look good in the autobiography, you know.

The British Board of Film Classification cut aproximately 30% of films in the 1970s. Now, it cuts 1.9% of films and 3% of video releases. Most cuts are performed by distributors to achieve the desired rating. An example of this is Shrek 2, which cut a head-but to achieve a lower certificate.

ETA: I thought the Bad Wolf was one thing. Turns out it's all some internet joke. Gutted!

I CAN'T tell all in case... oh, I'll explain on Saturday. It's painful. I still hope I'm right.

I hadn't seen [livejournal.com profile] calapine's rec. I knew that people were doing it in general from an e-mail I got. I'm quietly sitting over my keyboard grinning like the Librarian with a banana. Christ.

*feels amazing*

*pouts* Fine, Saturday.

The Five Doctors is on next week! *bounce* If they don't miss it out or something, but surely they wouldn't be that cruel.

Being recced is such a buzz. It's the best reason I write fic. ;)

NEXT SUNDAY IS FIVE DOCTORS DAY! WHEEE!

But alas, I will be all depressed as that's AFTER the Parting Of Ways. Beh.

Being recced is a new experience, but it's FAB. I like it a LOT.

WHEE! But Parting of the Ways.... *sob* It can't be the end, not so soon! Thirteen weeks seemed like such a long time...

And do you know you keep getting recced? You keep writing fic! *pokes with pointy stick*

Internet joke?

What exactly do you mean?

I read that RTD said that it's not some super villain or anything like what people are speculating, but it's a good pay off. The whole thing was very WINK WINK INTERNET GEEKS. I thought from early on that it was going to be some "watch them squirm and speculate then take the piss out of them at the end" thing. Especially as Confidential 12 (or 13?) is about the fandom. And then I read this thing and it's like HMM. Interesting. INTERESTING.

And I wrote about the BBFC and that Shrek 2 cut in my film exam! Score!

I CAN'T say what I mean. I had a Cunning Theory and apparently it might be wrong. I can say no more than that without you zapping me for spoiling you.

Really really hope that th fan thing involves moi. Film crews were wandering around at Collectormania 7 as we were wandering around molesting Daleks and feeding them jellybabies. You never know.

Great minds think alike! Go Shrek!

ahhh I have a unit on censorship for film studies... Did you know that the video nasties apparently caused a man to go and shag a pony.

You know I'm going to fit that into any essay possible for media now, don't you?
