Been a strange twenty-four hours. Yesterday, I a rather unxpectantly went out to the Buck with Jess and Day. The plan was to go for one drink, and not to bother, just threw some conditioner through my hair and make it curl and a strappy top and legged it out of the door.

We went to the Buck. I hd my one drink - vodka and orange - and settled down to watch Jess and Day get smashed. Except Jess bought me wine. I didn't think I liked red wine, but apparently I rather do, and she taught me how to drink it with interludes from Day.

Jess: When you pour it, don't put the edge of the bottle of the edge of the glass, because it'll tip back.
Day: Yeah, like that time you got red wine all over that top.
J: I learnt that after the third time the wine went everywhere.

So, wine plus vodka means Colleen more or less falls over. At chucking out time, we decided to brave Arriba - the only club Ormskirk actually has. Now, we assumed we wouldn't be allowed in, as Day and I were wearing trainers and it was heaving and we had to wait in a queue and EVERYTHING. We get to the front, and Jess pipes up at the doorman:

"Do you know Matthew Shippen?"
"Big Matt? Yeah! He used to work here, didn't he?"
"Yeah, he's my brother."

They had a conversation about Jess's brother and then we were waved in without a second glance. Fab.

The night was good actually, despite the fact we were completely and utterly skint. And, um, I have a tiny little confession to make: I've never actually been to a club before. Is that really bad? It's just that the opportunity never really arises because I'm always booked to be somewhere else. But yes, I enjoyed it and danced rather sillily and people tried to chat me up. Men, to be precise. The first one was a fairly random drunk guy.

"'ello gorgeous!" he declared as he came up to me on the dance floor. "Are you a student?"

"Yes," I replied in a slur. "At Edge Hill."

"What do you study then?"

I have a university course all planned, as we all know, So my response: "Dancing and teaching."

"OMGWTFBBQ???!!!!!!1111!!!!1" cried the Sober Voice in my head. "What shit are you on?"

"Oh, I can tell you're a dancer," leered the drunk. Instead of moving away, I kept playing along.

"Yes. I've been dancing for years, I just love it."

"Yeah, you're gorgeous!" the drunk told me and leaned a bit closer. "Give us a kiss!"

I leaned back so quickly that I should have made cracking noises in my spine. "NONONONONO."

Sober Voice put in pennorth. "Well done, first sensible thing you've said for ages."

"Oh, go on!" the drunk pleaded. "It's my birthday!"

"Yes, precioussss," I replied, spotting Jess and Day and moving like greased lightening across the floor. Sober Voice facepalmed at me. "Erm bye," then said and ran for it. Argh.

I have absolutely no idea why I said I was a student at Edge Hill, or why I said I was training to be a dance teacher. It may be worth pointing out that I'd had half a bottle of a wine, a vodka and three shots of Aftershock in varying colours. It was funny in a sort of "eeek! Men!" type of way. The next one that tried was more direct as he grabbed hold me and tried to dance with me. I kicked him and told him I was a lesbian, which is more direct but doesn't really have the whole amusing aspect. The only other funny bit was when someone went "Hi Henrietta! Saw your brother on the way out!" I blinked and told him that I had no idea who he was and I didn't have a brother. Weird.

So, there was that done. Staggered home remarkably late after practically carrying Jess across the park and rolled through the door. I awoke this morning feeling more than a little ill.

Work was... dreadful beyond belief. One customer made me cry.

Me: Blah blah Spend and Save card blah blah that'll be...
Woman: Do I not get one please or thank you?
Me: What? Yes! I've said that!
Woman: No you haven't.
Me: Look, I have. I'm sorry, it's a busy day and...
Woman: You've been a rude young woman throughout the whole transaction and not thanked me once.
Me: Well, thank you for making sure that giving in my notice this morning was the right thing to do.

Yes, I gave in my notice, and after that transaction, as I sat sniffling in the toilets upstairs, I know I'd made the right decision. Brilliant. I am officially free in four weeks of Homebase. It's a rather nice feeling, and people have been telling me that they'll miss me. I think only two people are genuine, but there we are. God.

So. I am just a little bit hungover and I've given my notice in. Good-o. I should be prodding at my Susan!fic but my head is achey and sore and I'd like to go and curl up somewhere and sleep, please.

Apologies for the transcriptions of conversations, cos normally I like doing a little story, but I couldn't think of a way to make the customer one amusing as a story. Oh noes for my writing is not consistent.

Sleepy now. It's only half six.
