Aug. 1st, 2005 03:38 pmOh my god, I am so bruised and sore that I scare myself slightly. *winces*
It's been... one of those weekends, I think. On Saturday night, I took a risk and decided to go to Dan's party instead of the original plan to watch bad TV and sleep. I took the car, as I had every intention of driving home at about 1am and there was NO WAY IN HELL that I could walk home at that time of night all alone. It's not possible to do it and avoid big gangs of teenagers from Dan's house.
Anyway, I turn up, find somewhere to park and approach the house, where I was greeted in a faintly shocked "You said you weren't coming/your hair is straight!" type of way and settled down for the duration. And, um, started to drink. As such, I settled down properly. I mean, if you're going to do a thing you may as well do it properly. Everyone else was merrily sloshed (I even got
rhaeselon to drink neat vodka, who then nearly died and declared it tasted like nail varnish remover, whoops) and it was a very pleasent evening with lots of loud drunken singing and random talking, which was long overdue. Due to this, I ended up missing out on a chance to sleep with a blanket or indeed on a bit of floor. Tried the tent, but it got cold, tried the bathroom but for some strange reason people wanted to use it and in the end I curled up on an armchair.
I gave up come 7am and went home and slept for three hours, before rolling out of bed with the horrible feeling that I was going to be sick and also that I had to be at training in fifteen minutes. I didn't do the first, but the latter was lamentably true.
So, training. Actually rather good fun, given that I haven't been for what feels like donkey's years. I had a n00b, which was good fun, and we even started to win every so often. Impressive, given my hangover. I ent to get food, eventually, but then quietly nearly died later on in the session. I'm not sure what it was, but I had the worst coughing fit and then got all these strange little black dots in my vision combined with these pretty things that looked like flashes of light with a little silver bit in the middle. This would have been faintly cool was I not about to fall over and faint. Rather sensibly,I sat down. I think it was about this point someone told me that the chair I had failed to sleep on extended. Harrumph.
Training continued with me when I recovered but not for long - we headed off and I gave
rhaeselon a lift home, mostly to lend him a DVD of Prisoner of Azkaban as he is reading through the entire series and finding it hysterical. I forgot to do this, as he distracted me with fantasy novels. Curses! In a moment of faint pride, though, I found my way home and didn't get lost once. This is impressive.
I also saw Clare yesterday evening, and while I tried not to pass out from exhaustion we went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which was absolutely fab. It made adults and children both hoot with laughter, including me and Clare. I think someone phoned me about it when I asleep, but I forget who or why, but I remember the film was involved. The logical conclusion would be to check my phone, but it's all the way in the hall and I'm all the way in here.
Despite having an unexpectedly wonderful weekend, the week is probably going to suck, workwise. Today was dreadful. I wish people wouldn't do my job for me, because it makes me feel stupid and paranoid that I'm doing it all wrong. Telling me breezily "Not to worry, we're just perfectionists," makes it worse. And apart from anything else, I feel headachey and sore-throaty. This is not good.
On the bright side, I am spending tomorrow afternoon being nerdy with
loneraven and I am spending Wednesday, I think, at
kestral_de_hara's birthday thing, which I can now go to. Except I know none of the details or indeed if I'm invited - I vaguely remember being so while drunk, but... well... help, anyone? Got that sorted, now just need to worry about getting there. Someone give me a map or just a post code?
