let me steal this moment from you now
Oct. 3rd, 2005 09:10 pmOne lot of notes done. The other article ("Florence.") is looking at me accusingly. I wrote the title and am now resisting the urge to just do it all in my two hours or so free tomorrow...
ARGH BAD ATTITUDE.
Because in our house we have the little luxuries, I am drinking Earl Grey black. This was given to me on recommendation (apart from the NO TEA edict I also have an actual written warning on the drugs about milk, so eh) so I am cautiously trying it. It's not too bad, as things go, but I am essentially a pleb and will be happy with my piss-weak cup of PG Tips.
It's AMAZING what I will do to scive work. Now, to be fair, it is our monthly cleaning inspection tomorrow, so we needed to clean. And in the spirit of cleaning, it made sense to do my laundry. And then, of course, I volunteered to cook a frankly needlessly complicated pasta bake thing for tea. It was delicious (naturally) but, y'know, took hours to do, which is why I'm staring at the clock and wondering why I left my work ethic at home.
I did try and go to a voluntary talk. Honest, I did. I went to the room and everything. It's just not on until next week. So my worky bit for the day in which I was a conscientious student did not, in fact, actually happen. I was, however, quite good about the lectures I had today. I really, really enjoyed my lecture on Modern History. Saying that, it began like thus:
"Hello. My name is Andrew Pettegree, and yes, I am the one that wrote the textbook. I hope you all bought it, because I have two young children in desperate need of new shoes, and did I mention that I have more books coming out soon?"
Heh. Nice lecture style. I'm getting better, I think. Spanish was DREADFUL but there appears to be someone worse than me, which is oddly comforting. I am so bad at it. It's a little embarrassing. I have spent a lot of today walking around and shouting the verb forms for 'estar' and it's not working. I can't remember any of them. Alas.
I feel jealous of all the freshers. All the Oxford, Cambridge and York people are SO LUCKY LIEK WHOA. Enjoy it and other such bleurgle, and when given work, do not put it off.
As I said, though, this attitde has served me well for many a year.
Now. I need to e-mail
kelemvor re: cheese... (BECAUSE I WANT A PACKAGE SO VERY MUCH)
The drugs I took an hour ago are not making me desperately sleepy - an improvement! And I am pain free still and no painkillers since about seven! Score!
