Last night, I was going to get books out, do some reading, come home in an elegant manner, do my washing so I didn't have another day of wearing Emergency Pants, phone Simon and then open the door looking elegant and classy with the smell of chicken tikka masala cooking like the domestic goddess that I truly am.

I managed the bit with the books. I came home and discovered that I'd forgotten to send off the envelope with my shiny cheque in for the parking ticket. To quote:

"FUCKBUGGARARSEWANKERYTITFASCIST PARKING TICKETFUUUUUUUUCK!"

It was 5.15pm.

I grabbed Katie (feeling much better, apparently, but has to go for an ECG this week - scary biscuits) and dragged her out to Tescos to buy stamps and poppadoms and then ran around to the other side of town and posted the damn letter.

Got back into the house. Hoovered the lounge, ran around like an idiot and realised it was quarter to six and I didn't have a hope in hell of getting my washing done. Swore a lot. Phoned Simon and spoke to him while cleaning up the Pile Of Crap that is my room and then Sarah and Josh turned up early.

As such, the entire house watched me cook. Oh, the pressure, especially when a lot of the cooking consists of poking the chicken when you take it out of the microwave, pondering why half of the same chicken is cooked while the other bit is frozen solid. Madness.

One chicken tikka masala, two bottles of wine and the rest of the martini later and I didn't really care anymore.

See, most people seem to turn up to lectures saying they've been out the night before. I don't know how they manage it. Hell, I can't manage it. Still, we tried. We finished the alcohol, and pleasently merry, we wandered to the happy world of Laffertys, then tried the Union, got bored, went to the Union off licence and sat around drinking until 2.00am. Glen's Vodka? Is the most foul thing known to man. Even when completely off my face I couldn't handle it. So good to see Josh and Sarah and revel in Northerness, though. Conversations eventually sounded a little like this:

"Nah, I dunt want to go f'chippie, s'over thurr, d'y'know..."

Everyone stared. Normally when the accent comes out I become incomprehensible to people. OTHER PEOPLE UNDERSTOOD ME. It was lovely.

I am remarkably unhungover, or I was when I got a shower and had a really big drink of water to make the pain go away. I even listened in my medieval history lecture.

Then I came home and went back to bed, because there are some traditions I just can't stop. I feel much better, or I would if I now wasn't ENTIRELY freaking out over my workload. And why did I volunteer to be a student rep again? Am I mental?

Why, yes, how good of you to notice.

In happier news, I got a package from [livejournal.com profile] kittyc1978 today! We are saving the M&Ms for Halloween, as apparently most of Gatty is going trick or treating. So are we, but we're hoping for potatoes and rice because it makes life cheaper.

Ugh. My dreams are really vivid and involve real people saying stuff I can imagine them saying. It sort of buggars up my enjoyment of sleep, I have to admit. I had the most incredibly weird one in my nap about Doctor Who, though. Rose was the Doctor, 10 was an assistant and Jack was Just There. I saw it from the POV of Rose, though, and I was all "argh! I cannot get into my TARDIS!" and panicked a lot. And she wore a skirt, which I think [livejournal.com profile] girl_doctor would appreciate.
