Typing this very, very carefully as I rather suspect I might still be a tiiiiny bit drunk.
Oh, god, I had a good night last night.
Allow me to explain. We are growing more and more concerned that, as a house, we're boring. As such, we decided to go out and be crazt last night. The original plan involved the pub, but really, we can do that any night.
Cue some deliberation between me and Katie about half an hour before we were due to leave.
"I want to go out and dance like an idiot," I mused sadly. I missed dancing, you see. I didn't do a lot back home, but I had enough birthday bashes in dodgy working men's clubs to go and dance in, and I did go out and dance in the Arriba when drunk, so really, I missed it.
Apparently, so did Katie. So, we actually Made An Effort. I put on make-up for the first time in two months, slapped on my skanky vest top, put on some jewellery and then bewailed my lack of coat. Katie lent me her leather jacket, with is just below the knee, really supple and my new Most Coveted Item Ever. If I say so myself, combined with that top, I looked damned fantastic. I even put on some Quite Nice Shoes. This turned out to be a mistake, as the pain kicked in early and by the time we got to the student union, the blister had already burst and OH GOD OW.
Why the student union? Because it's the only place in St Andrews that does that kind o fnight, other than Ma Bells, which is the Ultimate Ya Hang Out, and we fear it, so, to the union!
We got inm paid £3.50 for a shiny wristband to get into the Bop and then got some Dutch courage at the bar. Three doubles later, I was ready to go. However, we had been costume watching before that. Some of them were really elaborate. There were a lot of people in togas, for a start. The Spice Girls made a hideous appearence. (Ginger, love, oh GOD put them away.) There was an Inara who looked delighted that I actually recognised her costume (it was beautiful and her hair was just right, it was impressive) and yes, a Gambit, who resulted in lots of geeky squeeing and resisting the urge to grab him.
Then we went and danced. There is a Bop every Friday night and I will admit that I've never been - bad student! It was so much fun, and I have to admit that I danced for a solid three hours. Oh, my feet! The songs were varied - fair amount of Club Shite but accessible enough for me to know, some cheese (the house 27 Macarena is a thing of beauty, yes) and some indie. They closed with the Ghostbusters theme. By this point, Katie had pulled Batman (no, really, we never got his name though) and Sarah and I were trying to put off her Christian Union friends by dancing In A Certain Way. Good fun. I missed having crazy and stupid nights out. Also got a taxi back due the massive blister of pain.
Came home to cheese toasties (yum) and then slept for not particularly long, actually. I'm awake again and off to buy a Halloween costume when my hair dries. I think we're planning on going to the Zane Lowe Home Taping Tour tonight, because I am a Radio 1 nerd and missed going to Sara Cox in Fresher's Week...
