Sixty-four comments on my last post and only one on my NaNo? I'm hurt, I really am. Or, y'know, not.

I would post more of my NaNo, but given that I've written all of two hundred words in the last two days, it's not worth it. I was busy yesterday and before you all run away flailing in horror, I was in Oxford. Yay!

Of course, Oxford shouldn't have been too much of a challenge, given that fact it's Down South and I am also Down South. But no. Three and a half hours on a bus later (I had thought ahead and visited Subway before meeting a very flustered "ARGH MY MATHS LECTURE OVERRAN" Simon at the bus stop) we actually arrived in Oxford and met the very wonderful [livejournal.com profile] amchau. After doing the usual introduction type stuff, we wandered in a merry way to get coffee.

Oxford is very, very pretty. It's a dream of mine that was firmly squashed with my GCSE results to actually go to Oxford, so seeing it was a little sad. Seriously, though, it's beautiful. I love nosing around all the colleges here, and just passing them on the way through Oxford was lovely.

Speaking of lovely, [livejournal.com profile] loneraven turned up soon afterwards and we had a merry hour in Coffe Republic, drinking tea and eating Revels and chocolate-covered caramel digestives. We then meandered back to Birdy's room, and had a mini-party of sorts - [livejournal.com profile] me_and made an appearence and so did three of Iona's college friends by the name of Liya (spl?), Pat (who spoke Spanish and looked bemused when I cheerfully declared 'Hola! That's all I can say') and Claire who lives in bloody Southport of all places. We watched lots of silly things on the internet, Simon was forced into singing (no change there then) and it was all marvellous. Rhiannon had to leave slightly earlier on, and then we experienced catered halls.

Whilst the others spoke despondantly about how the food wasn't very good, I was too busy going "... you eat here EVERY DAY?" The hall was breath-takingingly beautiful, with portraits dotted around, the window from Harry Potter (seriously!) and a huge great organ. Oh, it was so lovely. I didn't pay much attention to the food, other than a sort of "SQUEE VITAMINS" type of thing.

Then we had to go back to Cambridge on the last bus. Long journey, to say the least, but the day was thoroughly, thoroughly worth it.

Today is Friday. Last full day in Cambridge. Six days for my essay to be done. (I can see me being VERY frantic next week, to say the least.) It's a little bittersweet.

Also, I am hungry. And I need a shower. I only rolled out of bed an hour ago.

[eta: phonecalls from my mother telling me how much it cost to get the car through the MOT BRING PAIN AND FEAR. I'm sure those two tyres weren't needed.]

It was good to see you again, and to meet Simon. I have a vague feeling now that I'd seen a picture of him before, perhaps on lj; he seemed more familiar than someone I'd actually never seen before. Anyway, it was fun to be new_who mods together again.

Coffee Republic? You went to a Coffee Republic?! I am jealous and missing Coffee Republic at home. And home in general. And people. *sigh*

But squee for you! Fun, and vitamins, and rolling out of bed at midday. *g*
