Nov. 22nd, 2005 01:14 pmYou know you sound like shite when the scary triage nurse at the doctors just schedules you in rather than doing the usual Spanish Inquisition thing.
I went to see the doctor who jumped from telling me I had laryngitus to an ear infection to a viral infection. This means he also does not know what is wrong. He did give me shiny prescriptions for lots of painkillers, though. I am now on paracetamol, inbruprofen, Sudafed and soluble aspirin every four hours. You will hear me rattle down the street. Thus far I still sound croaky and I hurt a lot but the world is entertainingly spinny, much like being very drunk but without the fun bit beforehand. Possibly taking them as my lecture started with no food in my stomach was an unwise idea BUT WHEN DO I EVER MAKE SENSE. I also got told to rest, which is always good for a laugh. I may ask my medieval history tutor if I can have an extension on the essay so I can actually get some rest tonight rather than spend my evenings in the library and walking home through the cold which I can hardly breathe in at the moment.
... and I just e-mailed my tutor for that extention. Does this sound entertainly pathetic?
Having just been to the doctors, I'm asking if I can have an extension on my
ME1001 essay for 4/12/05. I'm suffering very badly with a throat infection
that's spread to my ears and chest, and I've been told to try and rest as much
as possible to aid my recovery. I can just about make it to tutorials and
lectures but I honestly have no energy to make it to the library at the end of
the day to read up on my chosen topic of the Cistercian order.
Sorry to be a pain, but I wouldn't ask if I wasn't genuinely ill. (The doctor
thinks the drugs should make it clear up by Friday at the earliest, Monday at
the latest.) Any kind of extension would be greatly appreciated, as I simply
can't continue my research while I feel like this and I can't produce an essay
to the best of my ability if I have to speed-read my research and write a hasty
essay the night before it's due in. Well, here's hoping.
In other news, I booked tickets for the Christmas ball. I was afraid to ask how much they'd cost so I must find that out by tomorrow. I really do have so little money left. I can see me spending Christmas on naught but noodles. Still, only about three weeks to manage so I should cope okay.
Right. Off to do tutorial reading. Really should start doing these slightly earlier than the day I have to talk about them. Probably won't. And then to swing by psychology. I am taking part in psychological experiments just because I get paid for them.
...
Next term? I get a job.
