Paid my fees today.

Grand total of money in account: £73.67.

*cries*

Okay. Okay. I'm not going to panic. I am all paid up in fees and accomodation until my next installment of student loan.

Oh dear, just done some hasty adding up and it looks as though I will £200 to live off next term once you take my fees out.

Okay. Next term, I am finding a job.

I wish the government didn't assume I had parents who would pay my fees for me. They, after much begging and sheer panicking from me, have agreed to pay my fees next year. As long as I pass with a 2.1. OH YAY FOR PRESSURE. Will do tutorial reading tonight methinks.

It's not the end of the world. I have an overdraft (which, unless I'm missing something significant, I have interest-free for a year until I leave university and the same stands for paying the bastard off) and I have £300 in my savings account - so that's my fees paid for the next term. Which adds a nice shiny £297.76 to my budget for next term until I get a job and get everything sorted, so I will be okay, I really really will.

Will you excuse me? I need to go and frantically budget. And possibly cry in a corner at the lamentable state of my finances. I hate I hate I hate being bloody lower-middle class, with enough money in the family to keep us all going but not enouh for extras because we have to do crazy things like mortgage. I really hate being in a university where everyone looks shocked when I tell them that I pay everything for myself and that my parents don't help me out with anything except care packages of tea. I have lots of tea. That is going to have to do instead of food.

And everyone can have a teabag for Christmas. Hurrah!

It snowed this morning and swiftly got rained on at lunchtime. The clouds look ominous again, though, so here's hoping!

And one final thing: Arthur has decided that now is fine time to make his presence felt. This is a bad thing in the snow when the only logical shoes to wear are Doc Martens that hurt like hell.

[eta: right, I have £3.7020 a day to live off until I go home. We've got food for the next ten days and if I do my shopping separately I should manage. I have recipes for onion soup and stuff. And lots of cupasoup somewhere. It's okay, it really really is. I just don't want to dip into my overdraft already, because I've been here for what, 11 weeks now? That's just not right. My money has gone everywhere this term. Okay, do be fair, Fresher's Week is NOT cheap, I had to purchase a gown, etc, etc. But I had SO MUCH MONEY at the start of term and... it's gone. Eeek. On the bright side - sort of - Christmas is soon and hopefully some of the relatives will club together and give me money. Oh, bollocks, forgot about stuff like petrol and the TV licence, which everyone but Lisa has paid up for. And phone bills. And and and it never stops.

FINE. FINE. OVERDRAFT. I ADMIT IT.

I wonder if I can get some cash in hand bar work back in Ormskirk? Surely they'll need glass collectors?

I would want to go home, but there's nothing for me there. It's not like they can afford me either.]

[eta 2: Well. Lisa is moving out. I don't blame her, as I rather suspect she hates it here because she's so very different to us. Here's the kicker - she's moving to Sallie's. Into [livejournal.com profile] susie22's room. GOODLORDSMALLWORLD. It's sad, though. I wonder if we'll get a new person? Oooh, but I can nick Lisa's bookcase which is a good thing as my room does not have one. This is weird. The house is too quiet, because Katie is not here. I watched Little Britain last night with her, and we have a cunning plan to go into the shop on Market Street and ask for a picture of a disappointed horse, or possibly a disillusioned owl. Also actually cried with laughted at the one with the Prime Minister. Anyway.]

I am overdrawn already, and my dad paid for my accomodation this term.

My excuses are thus: Freshers week is expensive
Asylum (the club at the uni) is rather fond of fancy dress nights
I had to spend hiddeous amounts on books and vast dictionaries (I'm guessing nearly £200)
I bought a bus pass, which gets me to uni/town and back for free all year but cost nearly £200
I've already finished my xmas shopping
I spent £100 on japanese lessons for the year
It's a fourteen week term! How the f*** are we meant to be able to live on the same amount of money as those lazy oxbridge people who are only there for eight weeks?

So, based on that, next semester will be considerably less expensive, although I still could do with a job too.

Don't worry, everyone I know here is overdrawn. Plus, the train tickets to cambridge must cost a fortune, so that can be your excuse.

Well, expenses wise:

1. Fresher's Week
2. Gown. Ain't cheap.
3. Books killed me by about £100
4. Cambridge is expensive to get to and worse once you're there

Thing is, though, I took a lot of money with me that was meant to pay my fees. I have paid half my fees and have no money left already.

OVERDRAFT BABY. Christmas is going to be tight but I think I can just about do it. Plus, noodles.

The overdraft is the way forward! You can always get a job over summer to pay it back. (Just don't fail miserably in getting the summer job and not be able to pay it back so that you don't have any for next year. Oppps!)

Ugh. Being poor just blows. Shall I send non-perishable food from the States?

Your Lisa is the same one as is moving into Susie's room?

Freakish coincidences!

Am also overdrawn after thinking I'd be totally fine at the start of term. Freshers week, going out and train fares I think. Although being fined on the train down to London did not help matters one iota.
