Today has been a good day.

Crawled out of bed, went to lectures, found the Muslim world to be fascinating and entirely alien to my own (confirming the belief that a hell of a lot of the problems we have even now are due to frank misunderstanding) and came home.

And slept for another two hours.

See, I didn't sleep well last night, because the house was making weird noises. So the nap today was very much appreciated. Katie came in to wake me up after two blissful hours back in bed, and we went out tot eh Refresher's Fair.

I am a member of the history society, Mermaids scares me so perhaps not, and more importantly I joined DanceSoc. Katie and I are making our way to beginners classes this week to discover if we're too good for them (that sounds bad; erm, both of us have prior training, enough for the basics) and intermediate next week if it turns out we are. So yay for that. I was going to see about getting into Labour, but the only political people there were the Conservatives. I've never backed away so quickly.

Look, I need to get into politics and the debating society scares me intensely because it's full of eejits who are there in preperation for when they take Daddy's seat in the House of Lords. There are more than a few of those buggars, I should point out. Do I support the Greens? Yes. Am I pragmatic enough to realise I don't have a hope with them? Unfortunately, yes. So I should just infiltrate the Labour group and change it from the inside. Everyone's happy that way.

So, I am society girl! Yay me!

The evening was spent testing condoms. I have to point out that they were all flavoured and the testing consisted of tentative licking and going "Hmmm, blueberry is good." "Ugh, mint is FOUL!" We do this a lot, because the free condoms at St Andrews are given out with gay abandon and frankly enough we've become coneisseurs of the taste.

This, you see, constitutes a fun night in Gatty.

Anyway. Today was a good day, even if I just signed up to have my Valentines spent in the pub. Kim and I are nice human beings, you see, so Derya and Sarah get the house to themselves. Kim and I will be spending the evening in the pub down the road with a laptop watching Doctor Who.

Anyway. I have a 9am tutorial tomorrow. Needless to say, I'm still not best pleased. Also, I need to read the rest of Zamyatin's "We" for tomorrow. I should point out that in Russian literature the reading is optional, but I started reading this one, got really into it and now I don't want to find out the ending in the lecture.

Busy, busy. Oh, buggar, I have two letters to write, three to send off and I also need to clean my room. I've promised myself it will stay tidy this semester, and yet already it's gone mess.

I love the Arctic Monkeys album. It's wonderful.
