Right.
Stayed up last night talking to Katie and basically trying not to panic too much, and we reckon that the uni, given the fact that I am embarrassingly poor and some other reasons, will pretty much give us accommodation. I don't particularly want to live in Fife Park, but I will have to put up with it because frankly I just want a roof over my head.
If this all falls through (and we will know how legitimate our reasons are by tonight at the latest) then it will probably be private accommodation, most likely out of town. That's a new problem in itself that I'm not going to get worried about until the 15th March. People have been e-mailed, stuff's going up on The Sinner tonight, etc, etc.
If all of this falls through, I'm buying a caravan and living in the Gatty carpark.
My monitary problems are really not, well, a problem. Well, they are, I'm skint, but I have a shiny CV and a list of numbers to phone in my break between lectures regarding some cleaning jobs and whatnot. Money is tight but I have enough to eat and even go out once a week presuming I bring my own booze. So that's okay too.
Erm, yes. Sorry for the last few days of embittered rage but I cannot describe how stressful this is at the moment.
I'm also incoherantly tired but making a point to go to all my lectures. You see, I foolishly signed up for the Bulgakov essay and just realised that I condemned myself to all the lectures on it. No afternoon skiving and naps for Colleen. This is a shame, as I am very very tired.
So, tonight - sort out jobs, write good and coherant begging letter, do tutorial reading and ACTUALLY GET AN EARLY NIGHT FOR A CHANGE.
Also start remix because I just about know what I'm doing with it now.
Thanks all for being nice and sorry for being a pain about this.

Date: 2006-02-21 12:32 pm (UTC)Anyway, some belated words of comfort. I did Sallies 1st year, Albany 2nd, and had hoped to do it for 3rd. We had managed to put together a group of six and had done our research to the point of being able to tell them our preferred house. However, due to the planned rent hike applications for Gatty were through the roof so they just pulled names out of a hat. Sadly our group was not among the successful ones. Cue major stressing and a number of hastily drawn-up plans including moving to Dundee (seriously, rent is soooo cheap!). Long story short, we wound up in Melville which is not as bad as everyone says it is.
Also, you may have luck with private accommodation - I know our flat is still up for grabs as I had to conduct an impromptu tour yesterday just as Neighbours was starting. If you're lucky, you may get somewhere affordable as this place is full of people with lots of money who don't want to live 'in the sticks'. Honestly, you'd think St Andrews was London-sized the way they go on!
Anyway, to sum all that up: you should be just fine! I don't think the uni is allowed to leave you homeless and they should try and provide you with cost-effective solutions. Hope it all goes well - I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Date: 2006-02-22 08:12 am (UTC)Wow, you're apologising after three days. I made you all suffer for at least 6 months last year! Moan away hun. Housing problems at uni are the worst kind of problems so feel free.
