hathycolTomorrow there is a lcturers strike. The School of Languages is in support; my Russian Lit guy "has a funeral in England" on the day of the strike, so is basically running for it avoid crossing the picket line.
The School of History is not, as far as I can tell. This means that I have to go to my morning lectures through a picket line of angry lecturers (mostly science, though) which will be good fun indeed. Not least because, well, why not the morning ones cancelled?
I'm sort of in a half-mind about the entire thing. I support the reasons behind the strike - they totally should get better pay than they do, and a strike for a day is a good idea.
But what goes on after the strike? They're not marking any work. Last time, the university gave in after a day of striking, so it's not an issue. However, that's all my essays buggared up if they do strike from marking them. I get my gobbet back on Thursday and will then proceed to run around like a nutter trying to get two more done in the space of less than a week, but honestly, what if they cancel doing all the work? I can't help but feel that, maybe, well, that's a bad plan. Because I pay for this, y'all. And then I realise that I have become horribly, horribly middle-class in my ethic and feel generically ashamed.
So, um, yes. We'll see how it all goes tomorrow.
Today I shouted at a yah in lectures. Anyone sitting in front of me with their collar up (one day, I will do an essay on why a chav and a yah are basically the same, but that is not this day, I don't have time) is likely to ge my goat up, but he was laughing and talking and joking with the other yah next to him. This made concentrating on the French Enlightenment a little tricky, as you can guess. So I shouted and felt good about myself for a while.
And now, to Russian Literature. And a late night in the library researching like crazy for my mediaeval history essay. Is it wrong I'm debating one of the questions because I think it sounds like Kingdom of Heaven? Seriously, I have been to all the wrong lectures this year for ME1002. Argh.
