spockette has lent me some books so I can do research and not get up at 9am just to get to the library during the brief opening hours. Yay!
2. I made about £6 in tips tonight. I will not complain about this because that is a third of what I earned in actual wages. Score!
3. I also spent an hour with Kim eating the ill-gotten gains of my shift (well, my freebie meal) and nattering. This is also a good thing.
4. I have the exam timetable. I was banking on the two exams I care about being in the same sensible time period so I could skip off to Cambridge, but they are seperated by ten days and I will need those ten days to revise for, y'know, medieval history properly this time and also possibly re-read for Russian Lit which is also on the same day as my medeival. As such, I assumed that I could not go to shiny Cambridge land (I don't think I can justify skipping off Down South for a few days when I'm moving out of university five days after exams - I need to pack, for a start) and I was very sad.
Then I looked at my Calender O' Doom (Slitheen Month is also Exam Month) and realised I can at least have, if not a long time, a few days in Cambridge before MO1006 because, erm, I can revise for it there because there's not a lot to learn. This is all wildly provisional and I have yet to mention it to Simon (nor will he read it here; he is currently in some obscure bit of the country on an orchestra course) but because it is at the beginning of the month I will hopefully not entirely screw up his life if I turn up for three days at the start of May.
Also, given that the only confirmed time we have to see each other (conflicting exam timetables) in June 17th then this obviously makes me bouncy and happy because even if it doesn't happen it gives me Hope. There is quote somewhere about hope being the most precious of all things that I can't quite recall correctly, but still. Obviously there are other things in the balance and I won't know if it's definite until he starts back up at Cambridge, but there is a window of opportunity.
5. And apart from anything else, this all means that I have a reasonable timeframe to revise for my exams in. Whether I actually use it is another question, but I actually want to do a little better of MO1006 this year.

Things That Are Bad In The World Of Colleen:
1. Yeah. On the rota for the next three Saturdays. Not entirely impressed by this, but Kim has explained Downloading Illegal Shit And Avoiding The Firewall in idiotproof language and with small pictures of squid, so in return for free Chinese food she is going to be my Doctor Who dealer o' fun, so that's okay too.
2. Fuck, it's cold.
3. Erm, anyone know anything about cars? Brakes occasionally making a weird grinding noise, that's bad, right? It sounds a little like I'm making an emergency stop and it is alarming and only just started doing it, but not always. I'm going to be gentle with them, read the handbook, check the oil levels (because it makes that crazy noise and the little light flashes when I do an emergency stop, ergo THEY ARE CONNECTED YES) and then I will get it to a garage as soon as humanly possible if I am told to do so. Surely my brakes should be okay? I had an MOT, like, um, six months ago! I am flailing because I have a feeling it may be related to brake-pads and brake-pads are important.
I wish the car had done this while I was at home, because then I could make Dad deal with this. Why does it break when I am not at home? Hmm. Maybe I should take it out and then phone the RAC because at least they are free with such diagnoses. But if anyone knows anything (it's an 1600GXi Skoda Felicia, N reg, if that helps) past "GET THEE TO A GARAGE" then let me know. The brakes are working perfectly, other than the slightly bizarre grinding noise that sounds more like the tyres going mental. I can't even feel it as I drive through the pedal or anything, so I don't think it's too serious - I tend to feel Engine Trouble rather than hear it. Seriously, though, please help.

Basically? Things are good, except for the fact I am alarmingly incompetent with technology and this may cause fandom/job related problems in the near problems.
