I am a Cleaning Monkey, or at least I shall be as soon as my references come through. Needless to say, I'm still applying like a crazy person. Good fun.

The most exciting part of the job interview was Dressing Up. This was an 'informal chat', I was told. Argh. This means Smart Casual Dress, and I can't actually do Smart Casual. Well, I can, sort of. If it's Going Out Smart Casual, I can dress up a pair of jeans. That's easy. But Smart Casual that doesn't involve jeans? That's panic stations.

I had to borrow a skirt from my mother, who is now significantly more thin than I am. I had to root through for the skirts she wore about five months back, when she got down to my dress size. One black floay skirt later, paired with a t-shirt and some Nice Shoes, I was ready to go.

Until I tried to drive and had to run back in for my trainers. Oops.

Anyway, once that was over, I went off to Iona's. Given my usual lack of direction, I assumed I would get lost when estimating the time. Typically, as such, I found my way and didn't get lost once. Apparently, me donning a skirt means that the apocolypse is nigh. I can believe this.

We had a vague plan to watch all of An Unearthly Child. (Shut up, that's an exciting day out for us.) Instead, we ended up eating toast and sittign around nattering for ages over the most stupid things - Why Mill and Joinville Make Us Respectively Squee In Ways We Shouldn't, Why Bridging Is A Silly Idea, and other fairly random things that are the sign of not having had a decent conversation since Easter. An Unearthly Child didn't happen, in the end. I also finally got around to asking her if she'd be a bridesmaid, and she said yes, which is, obviously, good. I worry about this sort of thing. (Also, I had to check now to keep her in the country before she goes swanning off an a foreign ambassador of wonderfulness.)

El Familio is currently Not In, which is a lovely feeling, and the sun is finally shining, which is also nice. In a more terrifying note, I'm doing the good fiancee thing and going for tea wat Simon's grandmother's house tonight. And one of his cousins and her potential bloke will be there, so less pressure on me (THANK YOU SWEET LORD) but on a more terrifying note, I will be the only one around the entire table who actually hasn't attended Oxbridge. *sings the Gaudy* (Don't ask, long story.) Oh dear. Needless to say, I'm stealing the swishy skirt again tonight as the only jeans I have left my Dad looks at, sighs, and says 'I had a pair just like that in the 70s.' That can't be normal.
