Aug. 21st, 2006 04:56 pmWell, I have something approaching job security. I'm not sure if this a good thing, as it means I will be a Cleaning Monkey probably for the rest of my student days, if not for all of time. Today, I happened to mention at the agency (I popped in for some timesheets) if I could stay on the books for Christmas and Easter.
"Yes!" was my enthusiastic response. "We have loads of work around then!"
So, there's my Job Security for the holidays. I also just got an e-mail from Phil, who works at the Union; it seems I am now destined for another exciting semester working as a morning cleaner.
Christ, but I need to win the lottery. Or find a Time Turner. Next year now involves a full-time degree, two jobs a week (approx. 20 hours a week, mostly morning though, so it won't interfere too much), multiple dancing lessons, Castellanship of DocSoc and lord knows what else. I might see if I can scale down the hours at work, or something, but I'm sure I will cope admirably.
Despite all this, I'm still looking forward to going back to university. You know, that mystical place with working toilets? All of our water is off due a tap that's dripping and will apparently make the house unstable, so we are understandbly waiting for The Mystical Plumber. Like all Mystical Plumbers, he has yet to grace us with his presence, so we are sitting around a lot and desperately waiting and hoping that he will, well, turn up.
In the meanwhile, I am Talking to people in Fife Park via the internet (I WILL MAKE FRIENDS SO HELP ME LORD) and trying to sort out paying my tuition fees. Three weeks and five days, people.
Also, I still have cheesecake left!

Date: 2006-08-21 09:18 pm (UTC)Cheesecake! ...I went swimming. All for naught if I buy cheesecake. *sigh*
But really, you slightly win at life you know. You must be about the hardest working person I know, and I don't know how you manage it but it's incredibly impressive. I have hopes of emulating it next year (minus the jobs, because I think that wuold actually kill me - I'll just starve if I have to, it'll be fine), because I really don't do enough at uni, and I ought to make the most of it. Already 1/3 gone... :(
