I got to see Torchwood!
Things that were bad about yesterday:
Torchwood. I did, admittingly, miss the first five minutes by dint of the following:
1. We finished rehearsals (ish) at 8.58pm. "OH MY GOD I CAN WATCH TORCHWOOD SORRY I'M NOT HELPING TO TIDY UP BYE!" was the scream I gave as I ran out of the door, just catching the end of a conversation between the cast that went "What's Torchwood?" "Doctor Who spin off." "Christ, she's sad." "Secretary of DocSoc, though." "Oh..."
2. I then could not find where Mohawk lived. I am a crap delivery driver, despite the fact that my FIRSTEST EVER DELIVERY (I remember things like this) was down his road.
3. I then ran up the steps to his house and banged on the door and shouted through the letterbox and then checked if I had the right number. I did, thank fuck.
I still only missed the first five minutes. This is probably midly impressive. Erm, I have no idea if I liked that or not. I started counting the swear words, actually, and the references to sex and violence and whatnot. Bit gratuitous, isn't it? I know that sounds a bit stupid, but honestly, it was, and it annoyed me a little bit. Erm. I have no idea. It's been so long since I watched Real Telly that I think I've forgotten how it works.
Also - will be reviewing both episodes as one sort of thing as I am too stressed to separate them. Sorry.
I like the way they're setting it up, I'll admit, even if it totally is Angel In Cardiff. (DemonsAliens living in the sewers but occasionally eating people? Standing on rooftops? More Adult Feel With Extra Added Sexing?) I want to know how Jack got back to the 21st century. More importantly, I want to know how the hell they're going to explain Rose's Magic Pixie Dust to people who are watching because they liked John Barrowman in How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?.
The sexing was a bit of a letdown. Why, exactly, could Jack not be naked? These are IMPORTANT QUESTIONS and they SHOULD BE ANSWERED. Jack was, generally, a bit of a twat which I appreciate. I like that in a main character. He is also obsessed with the Doctor (I have a wee bit of a fanfic boiling away in the back of my head about that, now) which, well, put them both in a bed together and oh look my sex drive just exploded.
Susie was going to my favourite. Susie went and died on me, which proves that me liking a character is pretty much suicide for them. (Seriously. I liked Daniel the most and then Jack the most in Stargate and LOOK WHAT HAPPENED THERE. Then I liked Fred on Angel and suddenly OH LOOK I AM A DEMON OH BUGGAR. There is a theme. I should remain nonchalent towards all the characters.)
Erm. I can't say anything more sensible.
I think I am now going to go and have a shower, and then I am going to stress about Wyrd Sisters some more. We DID NOT FINISH rehearsals last night, so we have two full Dress And Techs tonight, but one of them is at 10.30pm. Problem: I have to go and pick Simon up at the train station at 11.49pm today.
That is the thing that is currently making my life a BRIGHT AND SHINY place. I may have skipped all my lectures so as to sleep (the second rehearsal starts at my bedtime for work. It's going to be a week of napping) and my tongue may have decided to go MENTAL and swell up around the piercing (erm, you know when you get a sort of ulcer on the tongue and it gets all swollen and stiff around the area? Like that, only in the wound for the piercing) which means that I am currently flailing and praying that I don't start lisping and you know THE ENTIRE PLAY IS NOT OF THE GOOD RIGHT NOW but on the bright side, Simon will be here.
I should, however, go and do my laundry.
