Argh! I was all distracted by the novelty of having someone shove a needle in my arm to actually tell the story I really wanted to tell.

Yesterday, I went to a DocSoc committee meeting. By 'committee' I mean 'me and Phil and Claire for a couple of minutes'. We sat down and got the whole thing out of the way in ten minutes.

Well, fair enough. So, in the end, Phil and I sat by ourselves and carefully pored over how the committee might look next year. Obviously, we don't know for definite, but we circled the n00bs who came to the meetings a lot this year, worked out who might be best to be shuffled around, that sort of thing.

We are like Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. It is a little frightening.

Anyway, conversation naturally turned to matters fannish. We talked about the Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood:

"Sarah Jane Adventures are SO MUCH BETTER THAN TORCHWOOD. You know it's true."

"Well, yes, but it's so very... CBBC."

"Yeah, and doesn't it worry you that the man who wrote Queer as Folk and Casanova is, in fact, better suited for kids TV?"

(We also both made girly noises about the end of Torchwood. Not good.)

We then started talking about the final meeting for the year, and Phil said he either wanted Tomb of the Cyberman ("I don't care if it's black and white, it's Troughton, it's my favourite, and I set up this bloody society") Girl In The Fireplace ("I'd be careful with that one Phil, I'll howl my eyes out at the end and shout at Rose more than usual") or Caves of Androzani. (For those that don't know, that's where Peter Davidson regenerates into Colin Baker. Also there is a giant bat.)

"Why that one?" I ask.

"Well," answered Phil, "It's got a funny monster that everyone can laugh at, and Peri is a good shouting target, and I look a bit like Peter Davidson, so it's appropriate, really."

"Yeah," I said thoughtfully. Then I paused. "No! That makes me Colin Baker!"

"Well, you are a bit ginger."

"I DO NOT LOOK LIKE COLIN BAKER!"

I have now, in leiu of learning about modern history, now compiled some fairly conclusive photographic evidence about all of this for those that have never seen Doctor Who and have no idea what the hell I'm talking about.

This is our illustrius leader Lord High President Philip I. In the interest of fairness, I should point out he normally doesn't look like this - this photo is publicity for an event that happened a while ago.

This, for those that haven't seen before or have forgotten, is me. I am also in costume, again in the interest of fairness. Apparently my Doctor outfit is that of a 1920 flapper that's being attacked by a bat. And vodka.

Now, for those who don't know Doctor Who, this is Peter Davidson. Please compare to Phil.

Fair enough, both blonde. Now, this is Colin Baker. Incidentally, he is my LEAST FAVOURITE DOCTOR EVER HE MAKES ME SO ANGRY.

Erm what. And for a last photo, this is him and me during a meeting together. We are known as DocSoc Man and DocSoc Girl. Possibly we are being attacked by an alien TV.

We argued this back and forth. A lot. And then a bit more.

I dislike Colin Baker a lot. Seriously. Six is pants. Also, this makes Andrew be Turlough and god knows who as Peri. Possibly we analysed this too much, but seriously, Colin Baker is a bad omen. I don't think DocSoc would deal with nine years off the radar to be bdly bought back by an American. Well, in St Andrews that could happen, but that's not the point.

In the end, we agreed that whilst "Change, my dear, and not a moment too soon!" would be awesome opening lines for the first showing in September, we also thought that using a giant bat as a metaphor for a graduation was taking things just a little too far. Also, Iain is the only American on the committee, and Peri he is not. The idea of him getting his tits out for the lads frightened us both.

It was a funny, funny hour though. And oh, I've missed making fannish posts like this.

Will never be able to make eye contact with Comittee again. Ever.

SJA was brilliant. Torchwood is amazing, but if anyone tells you that I cried then they are fibbing. Neither did I squee like a sqee-ey thing either.

I reckon that Phillip looks more like Colin Baker than you. You look like a cross tween Sylvester mcCoy and Jon Pertwee, cept female.

I rather wish there was something as good as a DocSoc at my uni....

Yeah, but you're going to get a whole new level of humour at the next showing as you look at us and try to work out a suitable Peri!

You know those paper dolls you used to have as a kid? The ones with the dresses that could be tried on different dolls? I have a horrible feeling thats what I'm going to be doing at the next meeting. Seeing who can fit the costumes Peri wore.

This is entirely your fault. Please don't make eye contact with me as it may be dangerous and result in a fit of unexplainable giggling.

I would point out that it was Seven in control before the show was taken off the air in 1987. Six merely got an 18-month holiday!

Yay fannish stuff! Colin Baker is the only Doctor I haven't seen, but he frightens me. I think it's the costume. I love Troughton. Tomb of the Cybermen is excellent, it has Jamie in it.

Oh, I have seen Seventies Porn Colin. Now, perhaps, you see my rage at being labelled as 'looking a bit like him'

Humph.

Colin Baker scares me blind. See, Troughton? He is Of The Gods. It's true! And Jamie is in my top ten of Awesome Companions, because he too wears a mini-skirt. (That thing he dons? Not a kilt by any stretch of the imagination.)
