Feb. 8th, 2007 10:12 amIt looks as though it's snowing in St Andrews. It should be snowing in St Andrews. One of the common misconceptions about St Andrews is that it is in Scotland. I'm convinced it isn't, really. Scottish accents are rare, and more importantly, it has a CRAZY micro weather system. Whatever is happening in the rest of the world, it won't happen here. It's snowing in the rest of Fife, or so I've been told.
Here, it looks as though it's snowing, but you'd be mad to go out in it. It's been hailstoning on and off all night and most of the morning. So, it's icy and cold. The ground looks pretty and does indeed make crunchy sounds when you stand on it. However, it's also extrememly painful to go out into. It's also an absolute bastard to drive in, too.
I have to walk to my lecture (in the Physics department ohmygodthey'regoingtoeatmesorryphysicists) in about twenty minutes. More terrifyingly, I have to drive out past Dundee down a lot of dark country lanes this evening. In what may or ay not be freezing fog and snow.
I do hope I get a phone call from my tutee's mother to tell me that she's ill. I know that is very lazy of me, but it's cold and Thursday are hellish days of travelling for me as it is.
I wish it was snowing. That would be a good reason to leave the house rather than, say, my history lecture.
