Okay, so, I'm not dead. Hurrah!

Christmas was, you know, Christmassy. Over the weekend Richie and I had our own mini-Christmas and then went to the carol concert at St Paul's, which I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would. I got to sing O Come All Ye Faithful which is totally my favourite carol so basically I was sold right there. Unfortunately, I had to go to work on Christmas Eve which was slightly pointless, as all of eighteen people turned up and there was very little work to do. Still, we got lunch bought for us and all started to slink off shortly afterwards, in my case to drive back up to Ormskirk, which was a bloody long drive.

Still, we made it in reasonable time, picking up chips from the local chippie and eating them with the first of far, far too much wine. My parents had bought a case in for Christmas, and it was demolished by the night after Boxing Day. Oh, god.

Christmas itself was a good day, though. Very chilled out, with some lovely presents and lots of lovely food which I'm always in favour of. Man, my mum's mash is the best in the whole world. I enjoyed Doctor Who too, and I think I follow the entire internet by saying that Madam Vashtra and Jenny are well overdue a spin off. Boxing Day was another chilled out day too. On Thursday night we got out to see Jo and Matt, both of whom I haven't seen in a while, and we drank slightly too many cocktails and discussed our years and plans for 2013.

Less good was Friday, when we came back to London. I've already mentioned that Nan is ill, but she is really, really ill. These last two strokes have sort of ruined her, for lack of a better term, and it's all just awful. Richie and I went to Worcester on the way back down to London for a visit, and it was dreadful. I knew - I knew, I really did - how bad things are, nut it's such a shock to see it. My grandmother is gone, you see, and the worst part is that her mind is still there and fully intact. She's on a rehab unit, but she's become and old and decrepit woman. She just cried a lot while we were there, and then Grandad cried on the way back and oh god it's all just awful.

I worked very hard on not crying, because it's not going to help anyone and Richie has been very nice, but the drive back was bloody long and London is fucking horrible to drive through so when we got back I sort of collapsed and we watched some telly on the Tivo. We watched fun and light stuff, and then we watched The Snowman and the Snowdog which is a KID'S FILM and I bawled my eyes out and sort of couldn't stop for a bit.

So, yeah, that was a bit of a rubbish end to the week.

Now it is Saturday, and I have to go back to work for all of a day on Monday which is a bit pants. Still, another day off tomorrow and tonight we are eating curry with naan bread from the local naan bread bakery and it's cooking right now and smells AMAZING.
