It has been a very weird but very, very good few days. I'll try to write about it without rambling, but I'm currently in the process of having an absolutely painful 'clutch the stomach and pray for forgiveness' IBS attack and also I have no desire to do the long, long list of things I have to do.

Tuesday was possibly one of the most godforsaken awful days for a long time. I went out on Monday night to see Monty Python and the Holy Grail and spent Tuesday in a fuzzy haze of exhaustion. I fell asleep in all my lectures, and my modern history tutor picked up on this in the tutorial I had at 4pm. I was, in my defence, writing down everything she said fairly well, and I was forcing myself to listen and be sensible and I even occasionally contributed. I'm normally pretty noisy and contribute a lot more, but the rest of the class were frighteningly intelligent, and said lots of clever things.

I contributed 'Well, the Annales school was heavily influenced by economicists' and then just made a funny flailing noise. Now my tutor probably thinks that I'm a bloody IDIOT, and at the end asked me why I was so tired, etc, etc. I explained that I work, that I was still getting into the swing of things after having been ill, and that by the next week I would be absolutely fine, but I was listening to what she said, and attending lectures and doing all the reading and whatnot. She told me that she wasn't worried about next week, it was this week she was worried about. This means I was either getting admonished for being tired, or I'm about to get a summons from Student Support because she thinks I'm a madwoman.

Either way, I felt like beating myself to death with the course reader once I'd left the room.

I returned home, tired, sleepy, and knowing that I had to make tea before I went to DocSoc that evening. I had just started cooking when Simon phoned me.

"Er," he started off by saying. "I've made a bit of a mistake." He then explained what this mistake was. You see, Simon is very nice to me on a fairly regular basis nad had sorted out something for Valentine's Day and had sent the parcel off. "Except I was a minute late to the Post Office, so it won't be there by tomorrow."

"That's okay!" I said, slightly surprised. "You still sent me something."

"Er. Yes. There was a note in it, though..."

A note which would have told me that Simon was, in fact, on a train coming to see me at the time I recieved the parcel. I possibly exploded at this point, and made a slightly squeaking noise that only dogs would have been able to hear. NEEHEEYAY is a close approximation...

DocSoc, as such, passed in a happy haze. This was not helped by 'The Curse of Fenric' which I may have understood this time, but still disliked thoroughly.

Wednesday was a day of frantic running around and trying to get a million things done. I failed in most of them, hence the fact my laundry pile is a bit frightening and about to rampage through Tokoyo. Simon did turn up, though, and we spent the rest of the evening with me cooking a vaguely nice meal. By 'vaguely nice' I mean 'I threw some stuff in my shopping basket and hoped for the best' and it turned out well. Huzzah! Etc.

I skived all my lectures on Thursday. I am going to suffer for this, but I'm determined not to miss anymore. I had a lovely day instead, though. My parcel finally turned up, for example, and Simon and I went to the Aquarium, which was good fun. Seals are officially some of my new favourite things.

I went to work on Thursday night. Tutoring is hard, especially when she had only read two chapters of Animal Farm. I gave her four weeks to read that!

Friday I sort of skipped a lecture as well, but I have no qualms in missing Divinity. I DON'T CARE AT ALL BASTARDING LOUSY SUBJECT. I went to the tutorial immediately afterwards, and that's what counts. Besides, morning work has been tremendously difficult the last few days; it's Charities Week, which means there is a very popular event every night. Argh.

I also made a cheesecake yesterday. Derya's girlfriend Verena came over from Germany yesterday, as Derya left university this morning. I can't believe I didn't mention this before. She's not happy here, and she wanted to move in with Verena who she met in July, so she just went and did it. She's not even got into another university in Germany yet. It's... not something I would do, but they look very happy together, so if you're reading this Derya, good luck!

But that is why I made cheesecake. There is always a good reason for cheesecake. If I say so myself, it wasn't half bad, either, for a first attempt based on my mother's old recipe that she won't make anymore because it's too unhealthy.

I did go and see Hot Fuzz on Friday night, though. Horrendously busy, but we'd got tickets in advance and managed to find seats easily enough. It was also an absolutely brilliant film. I have a soft spot for Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright as it is, but oh, it made me laugh. I found Shaun of the Dead funnier on the basis that I know more about zombie films than action films, but it was still a brilliant and slightly hysterical film. Violent though, as a word of warning.

Simon left this morning, though. I have, as such, spent much of the remainder of the day curled up in my bed. I should go and do my scary pile of laundry before it sets off for Japan, and tidy my now very messy room, and do my reading for history, and very definitely not just to back to bed and stay there until Monday morning.

what's hot fuzz?
your pile of laundry can join mine in attacking the club we have called tokyo, as it's somewhat closer than the original.
to be honest it sounds like the woman might have been concerned about you. i appreciate it's difficult to tell, when you're feeling like that. i went through the best part of our a levels in that kind of state, not to mention gcse. and look at me, i'm doing fine...
love you.
