Gordon Brown is coming to DRA tomorrow. You know DRA, right? Those posh buildings next door with whom we must vie for attention?

Yeah. We are at the bottom of the pile. In fact, we are so much at the bottom of the pile that we will have no heating. In Scotland. In February.

For a weekend.

Currently pricing up trains to go home for the weekend. I spoke to my mum, and accidently coughed. She freaked out because apparently I sound somewhat unhealthy right now. NO REALLY MOTHER. Then she told me off for asking to come home, and I should just stroll in. This is nice of her, I suppose, but I am confused now.

(I can apparently get home for £50. This is tempting, but is still ridiculously expensive. Car, by the way, is so pricey it's definitely something that happens but once a term.)

I'm freezing to death right now, and I'm just off to put a bobble hat on. The oven is on, the crappy heater they've gven us is chugging away but OH WAIT IT IS OLDER THAN I AM so the heating? Not so much.

Tomorrow Gordon Brown - the next leader of the party I trusted to look after people like me, that was meant to give me access to decent education and living standards - is turning up, and frankly is the reason I'm don't have any heat right now. So he can look around luxury accommodation that stands empty because no one can afford it.

I am so far to the other side of disillusionment right now. Or I would be, if I wasn't actively freezing to death.

Also I just ordered pizza. I hope it turns up soon.

Huh? How is it Gordon Brown's fault that your university is screwing you over? I think you should campaign to your Vice-Chancellor about your shoddy acccommodation...break the thermostat to his office and see how he likes it...

ok ... that calls for hot water bottles etc. but if you get really desperate you can come and stay with me. bearing in mind my room in tiny and a bit on the chilly side itself, facing the sea. the offer's there though if you're stretched.

The feeling is that Gordon Brown represents a government tht is letting us live like this and essentially screwing students over, whilst sending bombs to kill children in Iraq, or renewing the Trident system. I said this much more eloquently, then we got the heating letter and I flipped a bit and made it more personal than I meant to.

Basically? Gordon Brown is turning up the fact that he is turning up is the reason we get no heating. And that pisses me off. Quite a lot.

(Also? It's warmer in the fridge right now.)

Maybe lighting fires/barbecues all round the house would warm it up. OK, so maybe the whole of fife park would burn down a little bit, but it's not like anyone would miss it, and then they'd have to give you different accomodation.

ah but julia, that fire would be fire hazard and colleen would get in trouble for that. seriously, we got told that our bonfire on the beach was a fire hazard.

plus ... my source in the saint (student newspaper) tells me that there are 'plans' for fife park. it all sounds very sinister but they're definitely planning something.
