Jan. 6th, 2013 08:59 pmI feel like I should only update this when I have something noteworthy to talk about that isn't work, but I'm a bit cautious about talking about work because a. I work in an IT firm full of nerds who could probably find this b. recruitment involves a heap of confidential information, mostly also about IT nerds and see above and c. perhaps work stuff is boring to other people?
Anyway. I am still enjoying my job, in what is something of a shock move. Although my actual specification is quite quiet, T - the general admin lady - is of, so I'm subbing in for her with varying levels of success mostly involving answering the phoe, assisting the accounts admin lady and also trying to do my job. It means I'm getting a lot of random tasks and e-mails from confused people, and when A - the aforementioned account admin lady - went home early on Friday I sort of became head of admin. This is interesting, as they're revamping the office and A is dealing with that. This means that all of Friday involved me making stuff up when people looked confused about where their new desk was, and what they were meant to do with their stuff. I made it up with aplomb.
Basically, I think I have turned into Donna Noble, because I am basically a fucking awesome admin who can come into any situation and make it work. I'm not entirely sure I want to spend my life being an awesome admin lady, but hell, if you're going to do a thing you should do it awesomely.
What else. Er, I am still in London, obviously. I am in the process of reading through three Doctor Who fan books which is a weird experience. This is mostly because for one I know a contributor and helped her start watching Doctor Who; the second has a memory from Jon Culshaw about what turns out to be the farm behind my parents house and Richie and I are namechecked in the back of it; the third involves me being a Sontaran and then goes on to discuss my wedding, which is interesting as I didn't know about it until the contributor sent it to us as a Christmas present. Richie thinks we might be the equivalent of Bad Wolf, curving through the back of a series arc. I have no idea where that's leading, mind you. I'm hoping to do a review of these three books some time soon, but we'll have to see because my reading and indeed writing is rather sporadic at the moment. I'm knackered after a day of work, and it's taking a while to adapt to a significantly longer day.
I will endeavour! To write more! And comment more often! Honest. *coughs*
