You win again, gravity!
Apr. 22nd, 2007 02:12 pmI have written an essay a day for the last two days and I have another one to do today. They may only be 800 words apiece, but most of my Essay Brilliance consists of waffling and Big Words. When you have such a small word count, Waffling And Big Words counts against you. I have to say lots of clever things and I have to do so consistently.
I have written 200 words today. I may still be in my pajamas, and my total food consumption may be a low, but my tea consumption is HIGH and I only have to squeeze out 600 more words. It's all good.
My life is not all woe and terror but at the moment it is not especially happy. The evenings have been good. I've had a quiet weekend, if 'quiet' means 'celebrating finishing my daily slog of essay with Katie and moving pictures.' Not the book, I mean, like, literal moving pictures. On Friday we got really pissed and watched Interview With The Vampire and Phantom of the Opera, as I was horrified that Katie hadn't gone through this phase at sixteen. Then I remembered most people I knew who went through this phase at sixteen were people I knew because I nagged and harrassed them into it. Katie giggled appropriately at The Gay in Interview With The Vampire and we sang along to Phantom of the Opera while Katie sympathised with Raoul. For shame, I say.
(By sing, I mean we howled "DUN! DUN DUN DUN DUN!" a lot. Corinne and her boyfriend were in that night. I suspect they weren't as amused as they could have been.)
We watched Futurama last night, though, without the aid of wine. We laughed a lot too, possibly for more legitimate reasons.
Tonight I really want to go and see Amazing Grace since it's finally on at the cinema, and also to get me out of the house for a bit. I haven't showered since Friday, but then, I haven't done anything more exciting than walk to the kitchen and back for two days in terms of exercise, so I'm sure I don't honk too badly. I think I'm going by myself, so, you know, it doesn't matter anyway.
(And yes, I watched Doctor Who. In the bar, because football was on in the TV room. The bar is never, ever used, except for apparently last night. Argh! So I have no idea of the subtleties of dialogue, and I sort of laughed at the ending rather than take it seriously. I'll put up a review when I know the actual fine details of plot.)
It is not going to be a good few weeks. Essay time is not abating, and then it's revision time and we only get a week of bastarding revision leave and then I have three exams and three days and oh my. I have been in formal education for too long. Looking back on five years of LJ, I have been completely miserable for every April for the same reasons - the formal exam structure.
We are, however, having mashed potatoes tonight. That is a very good thing.
