So, my overenthusiastic statement re: fire and the internet may have been a bit of a lie, because they are still calibrating our live. Today represents the first day it has ben on for more than three hours, so we're all hopeful. Hopefully I will be able to download Heroes and naked Guy of Gisbourne Robin Hood soon.

I don't actually have time to start writing down what I have been up to this week, other than muttering 'this wouldn't be happening if I was a trapeze artist' to myself when trudging to the library in the rain to do yet more reading, or more amusingly when I was muttering that when trying to poke the internet into co-operation and heard Sarah muttering the same thing along the same lines of owning a book shop.

Needless to say, we're all going a wee bit mad. I am possibly a little bit more mad than evryone else at the moment, as I have a 20-25 minute presentation on Samuel Pepys and friendship in early modern England to do on Tuesday, and an essay on basically the same thing on Thursday. I have to somehow manage to pull these two rather large pieces of work out of, er, four sides of notes. I have read every single book on the bibliography, might I add. For some reason, friendship is a really dull topic that you cannot, in fact, properly research and therefore it's a lot of people who think they're really clever and secretly wish they'd studied sociology rather than giving in to parental pressure and studying history.

The moral of the story is that I'm writing up all this resentment because oh sweet joy I have the internet and can now do all the stuff I've been meaning to do for six months but I can only do so when I've finished my large pile of work.

To make matters a wee bit worse, of course, this work is for Tutor Of Death, who thinks I am stupid and has more or less told me so. I am, perhaps, not the most clever person in the world, and I do tend to talk a load of nonsense in tutorials, especially when they are at 9am, last two hours, and I've already done two hours of work and all I really want to do is go back to bed. However, I am, at least, answering fairly tricky questions on early modern Dutch politics which strangely enough are not high on the syllabus in any university including probably in the Netherlands, which is more than the rest of the class are doing.

Writing down the stuff I say in the highly sarcastic way is not what I call motivation. I nearly cried. When the DVD cocked up in DocSoc that night, I swear to God, I was nearly off home that night. Fortunately, the rest of the week cheered up a bit when Katie and I got pissed on wine, and I dyed my hair the same colour I had when I was 17. It is a rather bright red and I'm a bit astonished I looked like this for nearly a year. All in all have cheered up a bit and sincerely hope that next week is better.

Right. I should stop writing this and get on with writing the rest of my presentation. Hopefully going to go and see Elizabeth: The Golden Age with Sarah tonight and then need to talk someone into coming to see 30 Days of Night with me either on Tuesday or on Thursday.

Oooh, gosh. It is a nice feeling being on the internet in my bedroom. There are picspams coming in the future, of my holiday, my house and St Andrews. Just let me get through this workload, okay?

Oh, and finally, how awesome is Robin Hood? Seriously, though, Robin is naff and I DO NOT CARE and when he is with Marian I throw up in my mouth a bit, but everything else is MARVELLOUS. Katie and I hereby declare that the rest of the series should be exclusively Much, Little John Being Heartwarming, Djaq Being A Bit Of A Fox, Will Being Evil A Bit Like Doctor Who That Time and Guy. Preferably smirking. A lot. In tight leather trousers.

Uh, yeah. Samuel Pepys and friendship.
