Oh, right. That was why I vowed never to post on LJ whilst under the influence of alcohol.

Erm, yes. With my exams gleefully over, I didn't sleep at all on Thursday night until what felt like twenty minutes before I had to get up and go to work. After all, no one had phoned me so I assumed I had to work. See what a lovely person I was.

Oh, but wait, they just forgot to tell me. Stomped back home and then couldn't sleep again. ARGH ARGH ARGH. Woke up in time to get self to the hairdressers. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with hairdressers. I love having nice hair, but my hir is this big curly thick mass and hairdressers also require a level of social interaction that I generally can't manage. And quite a lot of people have no idea how to deal with my hair. I actually do - it involves layering and understanding that it's not all the same texture - and as a sort of evil cruel test, I let the hairdreser tell me this. If they don't suggest it, I don't trust them for anything for than a trim. I am very paranoid about my hair, you see.

Anyway, she cheerfully suggested putting some layers in to get rid of the weight but not at the front because my hair was different there.

WAHEY.

This is the best hair cut I've gotten for years. Yes, I am being appallingly vain. I know. Anyway, she straightened it (I think hairdressers see me as a challenge of their blowdrying skills) and sent me out into the world. I felt just a little bit foxy.

Katie and I then staggered out to Dundee for the purpose of food and the varied joys that is shopping. You see, I have a bit of a New Year's Resolution, which can be summed up in the phrase of "Look less like a tramp." (Have I talked about this before? I forget.) Because I do stump around in ink-stained jumpers and jeans with rips in, which is fine when I'm at my job of, you know, cleaning toilets, but less so when I'm meeting new people and attempting to make a good impression once in a while. So I've been quietly collating some new clothes, some shoes without massive holes, stuff like that. I'm not going to turn into one of those creatures that is a faintly orange colour and takes three hours to get ready of a morning, but I would quite like to have a half-decent hair cut and wear clean clothes.

Anyway. Consumerism ahoy, but the shops were sorely disappointing. Whilst Katie was trying on jeans, I jokingly picked up a pair of black skinny jeans with a wee flair on the end. I do not have large legs, but they aren't slender and I regard skinny jeans with the same trepidation someone with a peanut allergy regards KP.

Except apparently I shouldn't have done because what do you know, I looked shit hot in them. (If we ignore the mild muffin top.)

Then I came home and collapsed back into bed again and actually slept. Thank god.

Anyway. A few hours and half a bottle of wine later (ahem) I posted to LJ, put some make-up on, and danced out of the house with [livejournal.com profile] stupidore. The exam period is not technically over, but most arts students are finished now and it was the first Bop of 2008. And oh, I do love a Bop when they do it right.

(Although! Every Bop you get a band to check if you've paid for entry, and there's always a wee advertisement for university services on them. Katie got one telling her to buy clothes at BESS. I get one telling me about services to treat STIs. !!?)

And they did! We went to Catch, the bar by the sea, for a quick half first before heading to the Union as it was rather quiet. Then we went more traditional and just downed an appalling amount of alcohol interspersed by shots to just keep the equilibrium sensible. But seriously, it was such a good night. The music was, you know, good, and brought back lots of happy memories rather than just a lot of stuff I didn't want to listen to. There was a suitable amount of cheesy dance stuff as well as some slightly rockier stuff and all in all - brilliant. (It was also apparently Torchwood night as we grooved to Song 2 and Monster.)

Now, PHOTOS.

Soberish Katie.

I like this because it's sort of spacey. NOTE THE HAIR, SHE IS STRAIGHT.

Oh dear. You'll be alarmed to know this was relatively early in the night.

Strike a pose.

I R TEH EMO.

Oh, god.

So that was my highly drunken night. Sodding brilliant. I'm not even that hungover, but being woken up throughout the night as well as having to get out of bed bloody early means that I am somewhat exhausted and will probably be eating the contents of my cupboard. Totally, totally worth it.

I have three weeks completely free now. Half of the utter joy (apart from dancing around shouting "MAN WE ARE HOT." "WE TOTALLY ARE." "... this is because we're drunk and we won't think so in the morning." "NOT THE POINT!") of last night came from the fact that I don't have anything to do for the nex few weeks. I'm going to go and see Simon, and [livejournal.com profile] tau_sgima is coming up (yahoo!) but other than that I'm going to go for walks, I'm going to clean, and watch films, and read fanfiction, and I'm going to go the library and take out fun books just because I can.

Oh, and the best part of today? I washed my hair (trust me, after a Bop it needs it) and it went curly again. Just to test a theory I put some serum in it and let it go curly to see how it settled. And hey, it looks nice! (I know, I know, it'll grow out in a month but I have a month of good impression in front of me.) SCORE.

(Incidentally, I am a crap photographer and can't take photos of myself for love nor money. And I am aware this hoodie does nothing towards my 'not looking like a tramp' issue. SHUSH.)

That is the end of my vanity now, I promise. I just had to have my moment.
