After some fairly convoluted Faffing About, earlier problems sorted out. That's something.

Last night was far too much fun. As part of University Masterchef, it was Katie's turn to cook. She displayed considerably more effort in terms of prep, preparing potatoes the night before, melting chocolate and so on and so forth. I felt very guilty that I had no sense of taste and smell, but the first course was potato and salmon fishcakes with Cajun spices; what little I could taste was very nice, though!

The next couse, however, completely blew my head off and restored my entire sense of taste before burning it off. Hint, people - red Thai curry paste is not the same as normal curry paste and MUST BE WATERED DOWN AND YOU MUST NOT LISTEN TO SARAH WHEN SHE SAYS TO ADD ANOTHER SPOONFUL.

The thing is, I despise spicy food, but it was actually really lovely and tasty too, so we would all have a mouthful, go 'yum!' and then the burning would make tears run down our faces and stuff. I think I can see why people eat vindaloo now. Also my sinuses were just completely blown open and seriously, that curry is the cure for the common cold.

Er. That sounds horrible. Seriously, it was yummy and big points to Katie. My favourite course was the dessert though; it was a bit like Eton Mess, but added white chocolate and raspberries instead. YUM YUM YUM YUM. I have never so eagerly scoffed a dessert.

So that was last night, and I watched Torchwood which I quite enjoyed, and drank rather more wine than I thought I did. HALF THE BOTTLE IS GONE. You see now why I did wonder this morning re: losing a week of life.

Anyway. I didn't miss today, and today is Valentine's Day. I smuggled some stuff down to Cambridge over the weekend for Simon, and a card turned up for me on Wednesday which I opened this morning and it made me smile, which is all you need. Tonight I am going to cook something yummy for myself, I think, and be content that, well, I might not be doing the mushy stuff that other people are, but I'm happy enough in myself for now, and that's all you need, I think. Or something. It's all bollocks, really, but hey, I'm daft enough to indulge in massive bits of commercialisation, so: I love you Simon, you know that perfectly well, card or not, but I do hope you like the postcard and cheesytasteful chocolates.

And I obviously love you all, my darling flist. Not in the way I love Simon, because that would be wrong and slightly creepy because I've lived with a few of you, but you know what I mean. *snuggles*

(Good grief this is a schizophrenic post.)

"that curry is the cure for the common cold"

I was going to recomend vast amounts of chilli. Mexicans swear by it for gettting rid of colds, but then they take any excuse to eat quantities of chilli that would kill any normal person, so I thought it might just be them.

It does work! Honestly! Blows your head off, but makes you feel better. The next day.
