Jul. 5th, 2008 09:47 pmSo, you're all a bit quiet, aren't you flist? I don't blame you.
This episode was absolutely cracking. Mostly. Not overly impressed with the cop-out at the beginning, but most of the episode was wonderful.
Davros! He knew who Sarah-Jane was, which was a touch I really, really liked. And Sarah-Jane was, as always, for the win. Also? UNEXPECTED K-9 FOR THE WIN. Once again K-9 saves the universe...
Torchwood - Not Really Doing Much. I loved the reference to Gwyneth, though! That made me smile so much like you wouldn't believe.
Jackie and Mickey! HELL YEAH. Will Mickey join Torchwood? He's making a fairly good living out of scriptwriting now, though; didn't Adulthood go to the top of the box office, if memory serves?
Martha was wonderful; Donna said that they'd made her a soldier, and they have. Although possibly the year that never was just really fucked her up; what would you expect to happen? I was actually quite delighted to see that the Osterhagen Key wasn't a reset or something but it was a horrible, awful thing. Also, German Daleks! I howled wih laughter. What does 'exterminate' translate into in other languages? I have an image of very suave French Daleks... but yes, I think she'll maybe join Torchwood permanently? They do need a medic...
Naked Doctor! I sort of flew about a bit in joy. Okay, yes, genocidal, but... well, the Doctor did that a lot. Don't look surprised about it. I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE THE SEXING THAT CLEARLY WENT ON A LOT. "You can hug me if you like! No, seriously, you can hug me." I also hope that we get some crossovers with Sarah-Jane and the Torchwood gang, in which she essentially whips them into shape. Also does sexing with Jack.
I... don't like Rose. I don't like what she's become. I really hate that she's got a sort of crappy happy ending; I think she should have been left alone, or died, or something. That whole scene just aggravated me. Fucking Bad Wolf Bay.
Oh, Donna. Tate was the star of this episode; you can't deny it. Her whole performance throughout absolutely broke my heart, from where she was so happy and elated, and did everything right, and the realisation that she has such a low opinion of herself, and the absolute heartbreak... you know, I'm agreeing with a lot of people here, but it would have been better if she died. Then she could have had a proper ending and could have died knowing what she really was; instead, she's been condemned to a life of feeling like crap. If we'd maybe seen her doing better, like in Forest of the Dead, then I would have been happier.
Basically; I loved the first forty-five minutes of this episode. The last fifteen have just broken me inside and made me feel like crap.
I have work tomorrow and I should sleep, as I am bloody knackered.

Date: 2008-07-05 10:38 pm (UTC)I would love it if Mickey joined Torchwood. Also Martha, which they did seem to be setting up a bit, what with Jack's comment about UNIT and how possibly she could be doing other things. *g*
Naked Doctor! I sort of flew about a bit in joy. - HEE!
I am so happy about what you said about Donna, because I felt a bit like I would be the only one to see it like that, but yes. An ending, dammit, not a memory-less limbo. *sigh* Oh, I'm going to miss Donna. I never thought I would say that - I was horrified when they said they were bringing her back as full-time companion - but she was great.
