I'd like to say that I've been tremendously busy and important recently and that's why I've not updated, but that would be a bit of a lie. I've been at work, certainly - oh, god, retail is dull when everything about the economy is screaming THE END IS NIGH and I am keeping a beady eye on the news re: my bank - and that has been mildly entertaining, as catching up is fun. Other than that, things have been pretty quiet.

This post may never be posted, as there are currently workmen outside the house. Thus far they've been digging up all the road around my house, which is a little alarming. Now we have lots of holes and no workmen, which is mildly aggravating. More aggravating is the way in which we had no notice about this work, which regularly results in the power going out. Our hot water and heat is controlled by an electric meter (despite running off gas) so we have to reset it every time. It also means no computer which is obviously slightly more aggravating. If the power goes out during my lunchtime Diagnosis Murder I will probably go and steal the little digger they have just to prove a point.

Fortunately, we were left with power last night, so Richie came around and fired up the VCR and we watched Four To Doomsday. By 'watched' I mean 'heckled wildly'. I'm looking forward to more people coming back to St Andrews, as I'm enjoying all these catch-ups.

(Oh, and er, speaking of VCR, if you're in the process of replacing your collections of skiffy particularly Doctor Who with DVD then please contact me - all donations willingly taken by the Doctor Who Society, as we're unlikely to get such a large donation to funds again. Can cover postage and stuff?)

And now I'm going to go and do some reading for my dissertation, which I haven't touched for over a month. Whoops.

[eta: oh, I knew what mildly exciting fandom things were tearng our house apart! I loaned Katie the first two Twilight books to read when she was on holiday and I am horrified, horrified to tell you that our house is now divided down Team Edward and Team Jacob lines. I am clearly in the best camp - Edward - and Katie is ON THE WRONG SIDE. We are going to club together to cough up the necessary cash for the newest book. There may also be t-shirts involved.

And this is how rocking my pre-sess Fresher's Week is going - Doctor Who and Twilight. ROCKING.]
